Marvel Releases Two New Avengers Banners, We Note Some Details

So Marvel’s put out some more pretty banners where it looks like Thor and Tony Stark’s heads were pasted onto digitally painted versions of their costumes. In fact, these are all the same images as the ones they put out a month ago, just without the Avengers logo overlaid. Except for Iron Man, and…

Black Widow! Who gets to aim with her gun and not with her butt. We approve.

    I’m genuinely surprised. I was set to be all, “pfft, of course” when I clicked and it was a shot of her butt and/or cleavage, and then…it wasn’t. Wow.

    Seriously though, love the site, but it’s getting a little old to hear that complaint over and over when we’re basically seeing a rear end view of the Rosie the Riveter pose at the top of every page…

    But the Mary Sue logo isn’t next to seven dudes who are clearly doing things other than displaying their butts to the audience. It was the disparity that made that poster really aggravating.

    Yeah her ass crack is totally – wait, no. There is no lovingly detailed skin-tight ass crack. It’s almost as if she’s presented as just a person, not a sex object.

    Want the complaint to go away? Then the problem should go away, not the complaint.

    I admit that I’ve read very little of the comics, but all these posters would have me believe that Loki is a member of the Avengers.  Shouldn’t Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Nick Fury be aiming at HIM?  Is there another bad guy in the movie that makes Loki seem not so bad?  

    Then again, if the Thor movie is to be believed, Loki was a meek, obedient younger brother who always played by the rules.
