If you were watching the Emmy Awards last night, you probably caught Netflix’s commercial celebrating their awesome female characters including everyone from Jessica Jones to the women of Orange is the New Black to Stranger Things’ Eleven. With quotable and powerful moments from Claire Underwood, Ali Wong, Gilmore Girls, and more, the montage is equal parts joy, superpowers, resilience, and love. Long may we reign.
The clip, titled “She Rules,” opens with a tense scene from Netflix’s new original drama about Queen Elizabeth II, The Crown. Claire Foy, who plays 25-year-old Elizabeth first entering her role as leader of an Empire, stars alongside Matt Smith who plays Prince Phillip. With its huge budget and this commercial, it seems like Netflix is hoping The Crown will catch some Emmy attention when it airs November 4th this year.
