Comedian Dani Herd recently did stand-up at the Laughing Skull Lounge in Atlanta, George, you know, the home of Dragon*Con. That’s important, see, Herd is a geek. Her set mostly revolves around her love life and love of Fraggles. I adore her instantly. Adult language is used, you have been so forewarned.

    That was the funniest thing I’ve seen all week. Her delivery is perfect and she kind of reminds me of Patton Oswalt–that perfect blend of approachable, self-deprecating-but-eloquently-stated nerdiness.

    I need there to be more of her stand-up.

    Or for her to perform at this year’s Dragon*Con.

    I have to say, for all the problems of being a nerd girl (not being taken seriously in the technology industry or in the fandom, sexual harassment from weirdoes in elevators or anywhere else nerds gather due to the lopsided gender ratio, being approached by guys who don’t have the social skills to know how to back off or take rejection nicely, being accused of being a fake nerd out to get guys, and countless others I’ve no doubt forgotten), when it comes to finding a long-term relationship (if straight) you do have an edge due to the lopsided gender ratio.
