Lost River, previously titled How to Catch a Monster, is the directorial debut of Ryan Gosling and co-stars Matt Smith as… as… yeah, I got nothin’. His character’s name is Bully, he wears a spangly jacket, and he wants Agents of SHIELD‘s Iain De Caestecker to look at his muscles. Against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city, [Lost River] finds Billy ([Christina] Hendricks), a single mother of two who usually works in a fetish club, swept into a dark fantasy underworld. While that’s happening, her teenaged son finds a secret road leading into an underwater town. Mother and son must figure out various mysteries if they want to keep their family alive.

Saoirse Ronan and Gosling’s The Place Beyond the Pines co-stars Eva Mendes and Ben Mendelsohn also star.
