Marvel and Star Wars Got in a Twitter Fight Last Night, With a Cameo from Tony Stark

Okay, so yes, the idea of a huge swath of what is culturally important to me being owned by a single company is kind of frightening in an Orwellian sort of way, but on the other hand I guess stuff like this happens too? I’ll get back to you on whether this has lulled me into a false sense of security later.

This is just awesome. I love when entertainment companies do stuff like this – the BBC does a great Sherlock tie-in with having John Watson’s blog be an actual thing. And one of the things I love about Marvel (as opposed to DC) is that they seem to have a sense of fun when it comes to their movie and tv properties.

There was 2 brazilian companies like “wallmart” that once answered to a girl saying “I can’t decide which company is best” with “I challenge you to a pokemon battle for her heart !”

Mace Windu for Nick Fury… *giggle*

Companies communicating (and being a little edgy) on social media makes me so happy. As someone who works in social media every day, it gets so monotonous being ‘politely cheery’ – that typical fluff PR voice will kill you. When companies have the nerve to get cheeky it reminds me of why social media can be awesome.

    Or hell, even just one.

    . . . And it’d probably be Paploo.

I hadn’t realised that the Twitter conversation went on a lot longer than just what was above – check it out, it’s hilarious!
