Marvel Entertainment must be very confident indeed in the success of not only Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, but in The Avengers itself, because its president of production Kevin Feige has already announced that there are definitely sequels in store for Cap and the God of Thunder.
Not only that, but Steve Rogers’ next adventure will be in modern times.
Speaking to D23 Magazine, Feige said that the storyline for the Captain America follow-up will take the action away from the World War II setting and into the present day.
“Thor will go off into a new adventure, and Captain America will continue to explore the modern world in another film of his own,” he commented.
Reviews from Thor‘s early release in Australia have been generally positive: nobody’s saying it’s the next Casablanca, but it’s been described as damn good fun. Captain America is still a bit far off for now, and The Avengers hasn’t even started shooting yet, so despite the early warning, there’s still plenty of stuff that could get in the way of Thor and Cap sequels.
Like the Mayan apocalypse.
