When I read this, I thought Once and Future Hercules Kevin Sorbo might be joking, because who would want to be in Hercules? It’s a Brett Ratner movie! But, watching Sorbo’s video interview with Dish Nation, his feelings look legit. Kevin Sorbo didn’t get a Hercules cameo, and he is disappointed.
“We were sort of taken aback they wouldn’t let me in that movie. I didn’t do a cameo. I think it’s kinda stupid, really… it’s taking the business out of show business” said Sorbo. “I’m still on all over America, on Netflix, on Hub, on Encore. I’m still in, like, 50 countries around the world. It was the most-watched show in the world in the ’90s, passing Baywatch.”
He has nothing but good things to say about new Herc Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, probably because there is literally nothing bad to say. “[He] and I used to work at the same gym for a while,” Sorbo explained. “He’s a nice guy.”
But as for Ratner… whoo boy, Brett. You’ve done pissed off Hercules:
“We approached the director. I don’t know what his reasons are – I don’t know if it’s political, or it’s ego, or what it is. But to not put me in just for a stupid little cameo, the audience would’ve loved it. They would’ve loved it.”
I’m with Sorbo on this: His presence could only have helped Hercules. And I don’t just say that because Hercules looks so bad that replacing half the characters with the Quiznos spongmonkeys probably would have led to a better film. I only mostly mean that.
