John Boyega Says The Force Awakens‘ Script Made Him Cry

John Boyega in Star Wars: The Force Awakens

John Boyega continues to keep his interviews about Star Wars impressively spoiler-free, but here’s another small hint: apparently, Boyega cried when he first read the script. So, maybe we’ll cry too when we watch it?? (Given that I felt emotional about seeing Han and Chewie in the trailer, I have no doubt I’ll cry even if it makes no sense whatsoever to be doing so … but hey, good to be super-prepared.)

Here’s what Boyega told GQ:

When I read the script I cried, and I’m not really a big crier… I’m more like a frog-in-the- throat kind of guy, who’ll try to hold it in and make sure I don’t let it all out.

Plus, some details about Boyega’s character:

Finn is dope. His story is so epic. It’s a story that’s never been seen before, but it also mirrors the stories of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. And he’s quirky and charismatic and funny. For me, he was the best character in the script.

The best of Luke and Han? And the movie’s gonna be a tearjerker? Hmm … that’s a high bar you’re setting, Mr. Boyega!
