Jeremy Renner Deflects on Guardians/Avengers Crossover; We Are Not Convinced

None of this makes any sense.

When asked about the potential Guardians of the Galaxy/Avengers crossover that everyone and their secret family has been suspecting, Jeremy Renner put on the evasive maneuvers—which only heightens our curiosity.

On stage at Wizard World Comic Con 2015, Renner fielded the question by saying,

There’s already a lot of people in the Avengers movies … and you want more? A damn tree … and a raccoon?

I loved what they did with Guardians, actually. I thought it was one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a long time … but we still have Avengers 3 and 4 to do. You’re going to be like, 80, by then, and I certainly won’t be Hawkeye … I’m gonna be a dead guy.

While it would be easy to take that as confirmation of James Gunn’s words about keeping Guardians and Avengers separate, it’s not an entirely serious answer, and there’s not a “no” in sight. And there is still a lot of time before the two part Infinity War Avengers story, and with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hitting before then, Gunn himself might not actually know about or even wind up being involved with a potential crossover.

Maybe even Renner himself just doesn’t know at this point. Perhaps Kevin Feige is keeping all the good secrets hoarded for himself and leaving everyone else with nothing.

It’s going to be a long few years, MCU fans.
