As we edge ever closer to making such a thing happen in the real world, the Independence Day sequel has just elected its own female president with CSI: NY and Gone Girl‘s Sela Ward.

Dammit, ID Forever. We were trying to be mad at you for not letting Mae Whitman take up her role again despite everyone else in the movie aside from Will Smith doing it, and now you had to lure us back in with Sela Ward. Now I’m torn! Free me from your web of tangled emotions!

Deadline reports that although previous commander-in-alien-asskicking Bill Pullman will return, the President of the United States will be Ward’s President Lanford when our spacefaring foes return for round two. Look out, aliens.
