Look, we all know J.K. Rowling left out one very important aspect in her Harry Potter novels – horny teenagers. They exist and spending all year at a school with other horny teenagers, I find it hard to believe no funny business went down. They aren’t immune just because they’re wizards you know!

We have to take issue with one aspect of this video by Wrock band Not Literally though. How the hell did that Gryffindor get into the Slytherin girls’ dorm? That’s totally not allowed as witnessed by Harry and Ron in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Unless that particular enchantment is specifically for only Gryffindor girls, in which case, our minds have created a slew of new fanfic.

    Isn’t the idea of a walk of shame that you slept with someone you’d be embarrassed for others to know about? If the Gryffindor is sleeping with a girl out of his league, why would he be ashamed?

    Generally, the Walk of Shame just means walking home the next morning. Because you couldn’t get a ride from the person or because they were someone you didn’t want to be seen with.

    But mostly it’s because if you had sex the night before and still look mussed up from it, you should be ashamed of it. These phrase generally applies more to women (I’ve heard it referred to as the ‘Walk of Fame’ for guys) and for that reason is quite sexist.
    Personally, I strut home.

    Agreed on the unfairness of that double standard. That only strengthens the objection, though. Why would the Gryffindor need to take a walk of shame?

    Horny teenagers weren’t left out of the Harry Potter books, only subtly put in. Take, for instance, the bit about Fleur and Roger disappearing into the bushes while Harry’s busy eavesdropping on Hagrid and Madame Maxime. What about the bits in Half-Blood Prince about Harry and Ginny spending “many happy hours,” or something to that effect, alone together in different corners on the school grounds? The bit about her about to give him something to remember her by on his travels wink wink nudge nudge before Ron barges in on the two of them? Even Percy got some action with Penelope Clearwater. And who knows what else goes on in the Room of Requirement, eh?
