Halo 5 Opening Cinematic Features Lady Soldiers, Nathan Fillion

Recommended Videos

Nathan Fillion’s character in Halo 5 is, apparently, a man who looks exactly like Nathan Fillion. Don’t believe me? Watch him in the trailer above, which features a four-person team of Spartans, including two women and two non-white characters. Jameson Locke seems to be the team leader; the other three team members are Holly Tanaka, Olympia Vale, and a character who is basically Nathan Fillion but probably isn’t named Nathan Fillion.

As the four soldiers jumped out of their spacecraft onto a sand-swept planet to gun down aliens and use their characteristic floating Halo jump, I remembered how much I missed Halo. Then again, the other Halo game developed by 343 Industries didn’t feel like Halo to me … but I did really want to like it, and it definitely looked beautiful. I still have some hope that 343 might still do something interesting with Bungie’s IP, but their games definitely have a different feel and aesthetic.

What do you think? Do you like what 343 Industries has done with the Halo franchise? What do you think of these new characters in Halo 5?
