All The Guardians of the Galaxy Sh*t That’s Fit To Print [VIDEO]

Yesterday we got the first trailer. Today it’s the first poster and so much more! Hit the jump for featurettes on each Guardian of the Galaxy…

The poster is interesting, if dim, but we like how Gamora is the only one actually looking at the camera. Everyone else is pulling a rock band album cover. Marvel also just released short videos on each character. Considering Star-Lord was the main attraction of the trailer I thought maybe they’d skip him but no.

Star-Lord:

Gamora:

Drax:

Rocket (Racoon):

Groot:

Argh, it’s not enough! I was hoping we’d see them say more (everyone but Star Lord since he already had a lot), just speak in general. I’m really starting to get psyched for this movie.

I saw that and actually felt excited!

  • Desirae

Disappointed by what we heard of Rocket’s voice! I was hoping he wouldn’t sound exactly like Bradley Cooper. :(

  • http://www.widdershinscomic.com/ Kate A

The outfits for her and Nebula are both pretty great and non-boob-windowy, I am excited!

  • Adrian

I was curious a bit when they showed Gamora’s naked back in the trailer but then they showed a very sweaty, very shirtless Star-Lord and was like, “All good!”

  • Adrian

    “You’re welcome.”
    Oh, you Guardians …

  • Calum Syers

It’s a little early to say just yet, but it’s apparent, from where I sit, that Marvel is putting their A-game into marketing this. Of course, the rhettoric that has cursed this film up until the trailer has been “too wacky to market to the mainstream,” and already self-professed box office “experts” predicted that this would flop or, at best, do “The Incredible Hulk” numbers. From just this very early marketing campaign, it seems Marvel really knows how to sell the wacky and make it look accessible.

  • Pepper

My guess is that that was just Cooper’s voice straight from the sound booth since they purposely showed him that way in the clip. I’m sure they’re not done with putting effects on his or Vin Diesel’s voices yet, which is why we don’t hear Groot talk either. (Or all that’s what I’m hoping, at least.)

  • http://elisabethflaum.wordpress.com/ Elwyne

Am I the only one reading that in Amy Poehler’s voice?

  • Calum Syers

With Vin Diesel’s low, rumbly voice, I’m not sure they could add much to make him sound anymore like a living tree. I don’t mean that in a “he’s so wooden” sort of way. i don’t. I mean, he sounds like an Ent in his everyday speech, already. His voice is how I imagine a living tree.

  • Calum Syers

Oh, I just thought I’d add, this is the best teaser poster I’ve seen in ages. It’s a pulp sci-fi cover come to life, especially in the use of blues and purples.

  • Skol Troll

Why is James Franco subbing for Pratt on the poster? Should we expect super-intelligent apes as villains?

  • Pepper

I agree. Having him do Groot’s voice was a stroke of genius. I don’t know the particulars to post-production work, but I would imagine that they’d do at least a little something to his lines. Really though, they can’t be doing much since his voice is darn near perfect anyway.

  • Samuel

Yeah, there won’t need to be much effects added to Vin’s voice, just watch Iron Giant and know he will be fine.

  • Erin Treat

If this was the cover of a sci-fi novel I’d give the book a look for sure. I like it!

  • Ryan Colson

    bc james gunn. lol

  • Ryan Colson

I believe that is why Gunn is doing it..

  • Anonymous

I still think Jason Statham would’ve been the best choice

This. Looks. So. Good. They really seem to be doing such a good job of marketing it, and explaining it in an entertaining way of “Hey, we KNOW its weird- but do you care its gonna be a frickin fun movie and you know thats what you want to see” Marvel/Disney is SO good at that. UGH. *dies*

It’s an official poster for a real Hollywood movie pretending to be a fan-made poster parody pretending to be a real Hollywoodized poster for a mainstream respectableadaptation of an unlikely obscure property!

  • Ashe

This looks so goofy. I gotta see it when it comes out.

  • cheesy

Um, yes. Sign me up for that.

  • Adrian

I swear, Zoe’s laugh is incredibly infectious. Can’t wait for Gamora vs. Nebula. Also, Rocket and Groot’s CGI looks great thus far.

  • http://www.Facebook.com/AaronVSteimle Aaron Victor Steimle

That is the wrong “you’re” for the internet. (Also, there are some clever marketing angles with ‘Your Welcome” for this show)

  • Clayton Gaughran

I am so pumped for this movie! Much more than I am for Captain America, even though that one comes out much sooner. It just looks more fun, instead of dark and gritty like every other movie these days.

  • Cowtools

This looks great! But I just hope the characters aren’t too asshole-ish, like they are in the current comic from which this seems to draw inspiration.

“Gamora is the only one actually looking at the camera”

Learned about this in art class, how the nude looked at the fourth wall to assess how others view her, instead of having pride in her own appearance. Even though Gamora isn’t nude in this, she’s created to seek acceptance from others.

Man, Marvel REALLY hates that “The Incredible Hulk” movie, I guess.

  • Cad Wallader

No love for Hulk? No wonder he got low and tried to eat a bullet.

  • Owen Allen

And now, from the studio that brought you these great movies, and also fucked up a time or two…

  • Anonymous

“Hulk” is a fuck up? That’s arguable. I’d take it over “Iron Man 2″ and “Iron Man 3″.

  • Cad Wallader

If you’re talking the Bendis run, then no, they’re probably not going to be that bad. They’re based on the Abnett and Lanning version of the team from a few years back. They were rough around the edges too, but they showed a lot of growth over time, and eventually became very close knit, more than just a team. They all really only had each other, and still managed to stave off galaxy-wide disaster. Amazing book, hopefully you’ll get a chance to check it out when Marvel re-releases it this summer!

  • kbroxmysox

Art’s subjective. Given what we know of the character, she’s also the only one who’s confidence is less of a bravado and more of a “yeah, I’m awesome, what of it?” That pose to me says, “Look at my sword, look at me. Got a problem with it than to the eff bad”

  • Cad Wallader

Apparently Cooper was aiming for something like Joe Pesci, and I like the scrap that injects. It’s a good Rocket, I’m looking forward to hearing even more.

  • Owen Allen

I was being tongue in cheek. The Incredible Hulk was the weakest of the Avengers setup movies, but I suppose that’s setting the bar pretty high. It was an okay movie in its own right.

The music in the clips is Nine Inch Nails “Love is Not Enough”.

  • http://www.justplainsomething.com JustPlainSomething

    The tagline is killing me.

  • http://www.justplainsomething.com JustPlainSomething

Plus it was one line. I still remember hearing one line from Korra of Legend of Korra in the promos before the series started and thinking the voice sounded off, but when I actually watched the show I realized it was just an odd line read of a generally good performance.

  • Elizabeth Wells

    Not anymore!

  • Cowtools

I have been trying to find that run, but Marvel seems intent on burying it in favour of the Bendis run.

  • odango atama

According to my art teachers, art is THIS! You know what I mean? There was no way to disagree with these people. I think they were trying to breed a race of superartists. Got to the point where I couldn’t stand going to class.

But that you for writing that. No sarcasm. :)

I liked it too; better than the Thor films in my opinion. But for the studios, all that counts is how much money a film made.
