The Game of Thrones Cast Gets A Huge Raise Through Season 7 While George R.R. Martin Judges Halloween Costumes

The video itself isn’t anything flashy but George R.R. Martin does get to show off a few cool Game of Thrones costumes. Meanwhile, the Game of Thrones twitter account is looking for fans to show off their Halloween costumes. If you’ve got one, post it with the #GoTHalloween tag so they can find you!

Now, what’s this business about actor raises?

Well, The Hollywood Reporter says a few of HBO’s Game of Thrones stars have just been locked in through Season 7 which leaves them as some of the highest paid actors on cable television.

The principal Thrones actors, who were signed only through six seasons of the show, have completed an extensive renegotiation of their contracts that includes an option for season seven, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

In exchange for the option, HBO has ponied up huge raises for seasons five, six and the potential season seven that will make the castmembers among the highest-paid actors on cable TV. An HBO rep declined to comment on the renegotiation or the season seven options.

You may remember the show getting picked up for Seasons 5 and 6 thanks to fantastic Season 4 ratings but the producers have previously said the show is likely to run for seven seasons. But just who are those principal actors? A few of the names here might surprise you:

The “A” tier — which includes actors Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) — is paid at the highest level. The “A” tier actors are said to have renegotiated their deals in concert.

The lower-salaried “B” tier — which is said to include co-stars Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) and others — is said to be scoring raises as well in exchange for season seven options.

ARYA IS NOT A PRINCIPLE?!?
