There’s an Official Flappy Bird Sequel If You Haven’t Moved on With Your Life Yet

Get it before its inevitable removal!

When Flappy Bird was yanked from the app store by its creator, Dong Nguyen, at the height of its popularity, it created a void that could only be filled by countless knockoffs of varying quality. Now, Nguyen has finally released a sequel called Swing Copters, because we were all really hurting for extra variations of this game concept.

Vertical Flappy Bird Swing Copters may not have any suspiciously familiar pipes, but it follows the same basic premise of Flappy Bird in giving you an adorably weird character to guide through never-ending insta-death obstacles. What’s the difference? Well, you travel vertically, there are swinging hammers that probably make the timing even harder, and… that’s about it.

Here’s a look at the game in action:

It’s free on the iPhone and iPad, or you can pay $0.99 to remove the ads—just make sure you get the Nguyen one, because there’s already at least 1 clone result. In my brief playtime with the game so far, it seems significantly harder than Flappy Bird, which is either Nguyen’s way of making sure this game doesn’t become too addictive—the reason he had Flappy Bird taken down—or just some cruel joke on people who bugged him for a sequel.
