They’ve Cast Arrow’s Cousin As Firestorm For CW’s The Flash

Does his contract say something about abs too?

Firestorm2Robbie Amell, cousin of Arrow’s Stephen Amell and star of The Tomorrow People, has gained another CW credit to his name. He’s joining the cast of The Flash as Ronnie Raymond, aka Firestorm.

It’s a busy time in DC casting, isn’t it? Recently it was announced both Katana and her husband Maseo had been cast for Season 3. Then of course there was the surprising news of Superman Returns star Brandon Routh joining the cast as Ray Palmer, aka The Atom. Now this! Here’s what The Hollywood Reporter had to say:

Amell is boarding the Arrow spinoff as DC Comics character Ronnie Raymond, otherwise known as one-half of Firestorm. First appearing in the third episode, Ronnie is Caitlin Snow’s (Danielle Panabaker) fiance, whose fate is more complicated than first imagined.

DUN DUN DUNNNNNN! They continue, “A maintenance worker at S.T.A.R. Labs, Ronnie plays an integral part in the particle accelerator accident that transforms Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) into The Flash.”

We still don’t know who will wind up playing the second half of Firestorm, the nuclear-powered hero. There have been a few different people under the Firestorm moniker in DC Comics throughout the years. In current continuity, Ronnie is a teenager who is bonded with classmate Jason Rusch after a terrorist attack on their school. Jason being the brains of the two and the one who helps Ronnie create elements.

And for the record, Amell looks a hell of a lot like his cousin.
