Eunice Olumide Details Her Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Role

OK but how many Bothans had to die to bring us this interview?

With Star Wars: Episode VIII pushed back to December 2017, it’s time to turn our attention to this year’s Star Wars anthology film in an effort to dull the pain of that two year wait. Felicity Jones, the movie’s star, isn’t the only woman we can expect to see kicking some ass when it opens at the end of 2016, and one of her costars has a bit of information to share about her role.

Extremely mild spoilers ahead, friends.

That’s actor Eunice Olumide, who’s been having a blast becoming part of the Star Wars universe. Olumide’s role is small, but she explained her scene to Edinburgh Evening News, saying:

I was originally supposed to play a nomad, but since I’m athletic I ended up playing a rebellion leader.

There’s a small scene where I run and there’s a tank that comes after me with 20 stormtroopers. There’s loads of explosions. I kept getting a fright whenever the explosions went off.

Rogue One focuses on the rebels stealing the Death Star plans that led to the victory in A New Hope. A tank and some stormtroopers and explosions isn’t a whole lot of information, but hey, it was only a small thermal exhaust port that brought down the Death Star, so we’ll take what we can get.

Despite her brief appearance in the movie, Olumide will be immortalized in the George Lucas Archives to ensure the sprawling expanse of Star Wars spinoffs and tie-ins remain true to their movie canon:

I got into a 3D scanner and they did a scan. They scan all the characters so they can reproduce individual toys or computer games. I will be a toy. It was an amazing experience.

There you go, toy makers! She put it out there. No excuses this time. (There never are any, by the way.) Yeah, you know what I’m talking about. Don’t **** up!
