Here’s the Official Synopsis of Doctor Who‘s 50th Anniversary Episode

It Goes Ding When There's Stuff

We may still be waiting on a proper trailer (one with actual footage, please), but the BBC has seen fit to throw us a bone in the form of the official synopsis for Doctor Who‘s 50th anniversary episode.

Under the cut you’ll find vague plot information, but it’s nothing that’s not been either released by the BBC or confirmed by the actors. We don’t consider that sort of thing to be spoilers, but if you want to go into the episode completely blind, A) good luck and B) don’t click.

And here we go:

The Doctors embark on their greatest adventure in this 50th anniversary special. In 2013, something terrible is awakening in London’s National Gallery; in 1562, a murderous plot is afoot in Elizabethan England; and somewhere in space an ancient battle reaches its devastating conclusion. All of reality is at stake as the Doctor’s own dangerous past comes back to haunt him.

This dovetails nicely with the news (once a rumor, since confirmed by the actress) that Joanna Page will play Queen Elizabeth I. We know that three Doctors—Ten, Eleven, and John Hurt—will be in the episode. Perhaps each one will be in a different time period (1562, 2013, “ancient” space), and they’ll come together at the end? Will all three of them meet? Could the space battle be part of the Time War? If so, how does the Time War relate to Queen Elizabeth?

Less than three weeks before we find out all this and more when the episode airs on November 23rd. Now give us a trailer, BBC. Pleeeease.
