It’s High Time For Disney Characters In High Fashion

[View All on One Page]

Or, if we’re being even fancier, haute couture, hon hon hon. Fashion design student Sasha (aka Sashii or Sashiiko) has illustrated this stunning series of Disney characters—some princesses, some (occasionally genderswapped) villains, sadly no Gus Gus from Cinderella—wearing stunning outfits that I’m going to go ahead and guess none of our readers could afford. Unless any of our readers are millionaires, in which case we’d love to have a second David Tennant cardboard standee in the office. Or the actual David Tennant. He does appearances, right?

I’m kind of with you, but I find if I think about it like a concept car, where designers are trying out new ideas, and at the end of the day only parts and pieces of the total design are used for the pret a porter line, then it doesn’t hurt my aesthetic so much.

Oh, wow, I really love Aurora’s dress. I think it’s a nice way to get around the ‘pink or blue’ thing.

Mulan’s outfit is really great, but I keep thinking about how difficult fighting would be wearing it.

I don’t get the Mulan concept so much, but I dig the Shan Yu and Dr. Facilier interpretations a lot. Ursula’s is great, and Merida’s and Jasmin’s is fun. Tiana’s and Mother Gothel’s is lovely. The rest are alright. Not a fan of the see-through tops, but it’s couture, so I’ll forgive. And since this is only concept art, I’ll go with the stick-figure designer sketch style.

Couture = art in my mind more than actual fashion. It’s very subjective.

YZMA!!!! awesome ;) fun takes on all of them. (diggin’ Hades too)

Most of these are more avant-garde than haute couture. Avant-garde is the edge of design and art, pushing the boundaries of ideas. Haute couture is exclusive custom fit clothing that is sewn by hand, uses expensive high quality fabrics and other materials, and is finished with exquisite detail and attention by master seamstresses.

Anybody else think Mulan stole Jubilee’s coat?

Why can i see Cinderella’s breast?

Did they each trade an eye to Mimir for fashion instead of wisdom?

  • EdgarAllenPoet

not impressed with what they did to Mulan, but Jefar and Ursala are wicked

I find the art style very unappealing, too, and the random volumes just remind me of Yohji Yamamoto (image one, image two).

I can’t get over how great these all look! The shapes, the colors, the collars, the layers…UNF.

Mulan, Merida, Esmerelda and Ursula are my favorites. Would these make sick Halloween costumes or WHAT. (it’d be nice if some of them could’ve actually retained their body shape, though…)

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the costume change list for Lady Gaga’ s next tour.

I’m always a little bit irked that no one seems to remember that Rapunzel ends up with short, dark hair.
