Holy Rusted Metal Batman!

The Dark Knight Rises As A LEGO Minifig Along With Commissioner Gordon & Bane

While you were busy playing LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, LEGO was busy making some additions to their line of minifigs. In this case, they were spending time figuring out how they could translate Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises into adorable plastic people. They’ve succeeded.

I’ve aways wanted a little Commissioner Gordon! HOW DID THEY KNOW?

Now if we can just get them to release Catwoman and Alfred, my collection will be most improved.

They did release a Catwoman minifig earlier this year, but sadly not one based on the Anne Hathaway role: http://dcuniversesuperheroes.lego.com/en-us/Products/Default.aspx#6858

What puzzles me is how Lego have refused to make fan-suggested Portal sets, allegedly because it’s not child-friendly, but they’re happy to make sets themed around the Dark Knight series, which is considerably less so! I don’t remember anyone getting killed with a pencil through the eye in Portal, or any brutal interrogation scenes or kids getting held hostage by maniacs… maybe it’s just really down to licencing issues.

Yeah, they’ve actually had Catwoman for a while, I was referring to TDKR version to go along with these.

I’m sure they’ll eventually release a TDKR version. They might wait till post Christmas or the Blu-ray release to get a second wave of sales.

The LEGO group have NOT “refused to make fan-suggested Portal sets”. (You may be thinking of Shaun of the Dead?) The first Portal-themed sets to hit 10,000 votes on CUUSOO did so less than a week ago, and it will most likely be months before TLG says anything about that particular idea. I suppose they might reject it immediately for not being child-friendly but given that the game is rated E that is extremely unlikely. Far more likely that they would reject those particular models as being unfeasible, or that they will fail at working out a licensing agreement with Valve. Or maybe they will end up actually making Portal sets! It’s far too early to tell. Here’s some more background information on the Portal-themed LEGO sets:

Bonus! Take the hair off Jim Gordon and you get Walter White!

Thanks for correcting me on that. Evidently I was completely misinformed.

No worries, I hope they do make (at least some of) the Portal sets, they’re really well-designed. I love the board game one. It takes a ridiculously long time to get a set from the planning stages to the for-sale stages, though, especially if there is licensing in between. They have rejected a few CUUSOO projects so far that got 10,000 votes – Shaun of the Dead and Firefly for not being aimed at the right age group, and MLP:FIM because it’s already licensed to Hasbro. And they are in the ‘deciding’ stage on several more ideas. Even when TLG doesn’t reject things outright, it takes a ridiculously long time to get a set from the planning stages
to the for-sale stages, especially if there is licensing in
    between.

The superhero minifigs linked above, announced at Comic Con won’t even be out this year*, they are for 2013 sets. Even the ones obviously based on The Dark Knight Rises.

*There is a possibility of a ‘stealth’ release of a TDKR set in 2012. But to not have it announced at Comic Con or before the movie is released would make it very stealthy indeed.

Correct, but I’m not sure I would want an Anne Hathaway inspired minifig lol Gordon is awesome though! Thanks for the post, looking forward to the new sets.
