Thing That Might Have to Exist

Daria Movie Starring Aubrey Plaza Is Not A Real Thing: What Sort Of Sick Sad World Is This?

La la la la la… La la la la la…

She’s back– College Humor released this fake movie trailer for Daria: High School Reunion starring deadpan darling Aubrey Plaza. A while ago there were some rumors floating around of Plaza actually playing Daria in a live-action movie, but nothing ever came of it. Now that she’s in this trailer, we wish something had! Check it out and get your nostalgia on.

why is this not actually in my life right now?

  • Calum Syers

I would so, so, so watch this.

I thought Brittany Taylor broke up with Kevin in is it College yet?

    1) Explain to me why Daria isn’t married to Jane?
    2) I’m not crying over the fact that I graduated SEVEN YEARS before these people. No really I’m not.

I’m amazed that Jane reproduced. Although it does seem very plausible that she’s a single mother (…and that Tom is the secret baby-daddy).

She hits it out of the park as Daria! There needs to be a live-action film.

I actually made a list of my dream live-action Daria cast. Aubrey Plaza was definitely #1 for Daria. I wanted Lizzy Caplan for Jane and Brittany Snow for Quinn.

  • frodobatmanvader

Lizzy Caplan would be perfect! Seeing her verbally spar with Plaza would be worth the price of admission by itself!

Man, I wish actual high school reunions would do that. Many of my friends in High School were juniors when I was a senior.

Gwnmfffghh!!! I never knew I wanted this and now I can’t imagine living ina world where this movie doesn’t get made!
Damn you Aubrey – damn you to HELL!

And this goes right at the top of my “When I Win the Lottery, I’m Financing These Movies” list.

Why the hell doesn’t this exist?

And how has Mr. DiMartino’s head not exploded in the intervening years?

  • Anonymous

Wait. Jodie was valedictorian, NOT Daria. She won the Diane Fossey Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in the Face of Total Near Misanthropy. Or something like it. But I’d watch the hell out of this movie.

    Also, Kevin flunked 12th grade.

    Take this to Kickstarter lads!

    WHY is this not real!?

she is so perfect for this role!

For some reason I pictured Jane and Trent as either half latino or half asian.

I just saw a friend post that their school had a multiclass HS reunion, so I guess they exist…

I found my whole list. Not sure if I agree with all of these now though.
    Daria – Aubrey Plaza
    Jane – Juno Temple/Lizzy Caplan
    Trent – Logan Lerman
    Brittany – Hayden Panettiere
    Kevin – Taylor Lautner
    Quinn – Emma Stone
    Jake – Matt Damon
    Helen – Annabeth Gish

  • frodobatmanvader

I’d prefer Lizzy Caplan to Juno Temple. Caplan’s caustic humor is just too spot-on.

Having seen some of his CollegeHumor work, I think that Taylor Lautner is an inspired choice.

Not sure about Hayden Panettiere. Even when being bratty, she’s more warm than ditzy. I know Anna Faris is a cliched choice, but she knows how to pull off Brittany-style ditziness very well. The fact that she may seem older than her classmates is even funnier. Or, alternatively, Juno Temple? It’s always the whip-smart ones who play the best airheads…

Not very familiar with Logan Lerman or Annabeth Gish.

Matt Damon is an unexpected choice (I’ve seen Will Farrell been thrown around), but I think it just might work. Is he old enough, though?

And the fact that Emma Stone would have WAY too much fun playing an egocentric like Quinn makes me want to see her in that part like nobody’s business.
