Marvel Says Netflix’s Daredevil Will Be A Crime Drama First, Reveals New Costume Image

Such crime!

DAREDEVIL-NETFLIX Both Marvel and Netflix would like you to know that Daredevil is not Thor. Did you think Daredevil was going to be Thor? Well stop thinking that right this second! It’s going to be a crime show, probably with the word gritty attached to it at some point. It’s pretty clear they would very much like it if you would never again let the thought of Ben Affleck’s 2003 Daredevil besmirch the good name of this new, probably gritty one. As Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb said to Entertainment Weekly recently:

There aren’t going to be people flying through the sky; there are no magic hammers. We’ve always approached this as a crime drama first, superhero show second.

And as showrunner Steven S. DeKnight said EW:

It’s a little grittier and edgier than Marvel has gone before, but we’re not looking to push it to extreme violence or gratuitous nudity.

Theeere it is. And don’t forget the New Yorkiness of it all. Here’s how the official Marvel website describes the show:

This groundbreaking series is Marvel’s most ambitious foray yet into live-action television storytelling and represents the largest film or television production project commitment in New York State history.

EW also revealed a new image from the show (below) and confirmed we will see the red suit. The suit Charlie Cox is wearing in the new still appears to be the same one he was wearing in the NYCC image (above). Daredevil Netflix Marvel Thoughts on what we know so far?
