Daniel Radcliffe Interested in Playing Igor (Eye-Gor) in Sherlock Director’s Frankenstein Reboot

According to “a person familiar with the project,” reports TheWrap (so get your grain of salt ready), Daniel Radcliffe has expressed interest in playing the hunchback lab assistant Igor in Sherlock director Paul McGuigan‘s upcoming Frankenstein reimagining. The film, which “puts a sci-fi take on this classic story about a creature produced through a scientific experiment” (is there a non-sci-fi way to do Frankenstein?), actually has Igor as the main character, so it’s not like Radcliffe would be running around in the background while a charismatic, attractive Dr. Frankenstein takes up a bunch of screentime monologuing.

The production’s been a bit troubled of late, with original director Shawn Levy reportedly leaving over a budget dispute with Fox, which is trying to get its Frankenstein movie out ahead of all the other Frankenstein movies currently in the pipeline (there are a few). As of yet there’s been no confirmation from any reliable source that Radcliffe wants to play Igor… and even if he does, that doesn’t mean he will… and who knows when/if this movie will happen anyways.

Still, the idea of Radcliffe playing Igor, a somewhat weird (I think it’s safe to assume) “character who’s pathologically dirty and dressed in old clowns [sic] clothing” is intriguing. What do you think?

It’s an interesting idea, to say the least. I’m really just interested to see this play out. It’ll be definitely be interesting to see the man who played the boy wizard and a clean cut father to play a dirty man with a hunchback and lisp…

Ohhh, interesting! A sci-fi spin on… the novel that arguably invented the sci-fi genre. ಠ_ಠ

Impossible to reboot this film. Everything about it – Marty Feldman, Mel Brooks, Gene Wilder all brought their unique style to this film. No one has a uniqueness like these guys!!!
