Game of Thrones Political Ad Makes Us Question Our Love For Daenerys (Not Really)

Earlier in the week we showed you a Game of Thrones political advertisement from Mother Jones questioning the very air Joffrey Baratheon breathes. And with good reason. He sucks. Now we bring you one taking issue with Daenerys. As much as we want to shout, “NO, SHE IS THE KHALEESI, SHE CAN DO NO WRONG!” we must admit, they did a great job making her seem evil.

Personally, it’s her sense of entitlement that gets me. What’s her qualification to rule again? Oh, yeah, her insane, inbred family ran the kingdom to the ground and got deposed. That’s as good a reason as any for a 16-year-old to deserve the throne.

Great…there’s the book ruined for me. Shouldn’t there be a spoiler warning on this?

Why would you watch this if you aren’t familiar with the character?

True story: though I love fantasy, dragons, and Peter Dinklage, I let Daenerys’ horribly fake-looking wig keep me from watching a single episode of Game of Thrones. I’m serious.

I don’t know, after reading A Dance with Dragons, it gave me a new perspective on everything else she has done in the series, and I freaking HATE her now.

She’s very teenage foot-stampy about all the stuff she should get in life. Which makes her more realistic as a character, I guess. But it doesn’t mean I’m gonna like her! Give the bloody throne to Brienne.
