Childish Gambino Finds Himself in the Upside Down in this “Bonfire” x Stranger Things Mashup

Recommended Videos

Right up front: the song’s NSFW as all heck. If you’re going to listen in a public place or at work and don’t want people hearing some dirty content, then maybe you should use some headphones. Just saying.

Listen, I’m an unabashed Donald Glover fan. I’m also an unabashed Childish Gambino fan. Aside from that, I am also a Stranger Things fan. So believe me when I say that I am so incredibly grateful to whichever fates decided that this Childish Gambino x Stranger Things mashup should exist. I daresay I’m #blessed for getting to hear it. There, I already said it. Deal with it.

To be more specific, this mashup makes use of Gambino’s “Bonfire” and a remixed version of the Stranger Things theme. It comes our way from Soundcloud user kmlkmljkl. These two go together like the ingredients of a s’more for more reasons than just having a shared rhythm. The “Bonfire” music video is something of a ghost story in music video form. The content of the song doesn’t necessarily reflect the video itself (then again, what does these days), as “Bonfire” is something of a hype track off of Gambino’s first album.

The ghost story format fits well with the Stranger Things motif, as you may already know that Stranger Things is a bit of a ghost story itself. This mashup video works in a ton of layers, is what I’m saying.
