Zoe Saldana, doing an interview for the Star Trek Into Darkness press junket, had some things to say about Guardians of the Galaxy, specifically the look of her character, Gamora. In the comics her outfit‘s a bit on the skimpy side, but in the film the emphasis won’t be on minimizing the amount of fabric used but on maximizing its comfort. After all, as Saldana explains, she has to be able to kick some butt in it.

I love you, Zoe Saldana. Very much.

(I know there haven’t been many Guardians interviews yet, but I would just like to say I hope against hope this movie doesn’t give rise to another case of actors getting asked about their characters and actresses getting asked about their costumes and diets. Just putting that out into the universe. Do me proud, fellow journalists.)

According to Tumblrer I Ship It Like UPS, as documented by a suite of photos, nobody asked her to prom, so she decided to take somebody who’d had a real and lasting effect on her academic progress: her TI-84.

Chronicle director Josh Trank‘s The Fantastic Four reboot is supposed to start filming next month for a 2015 release, so it’s kind of odd that nary a cast member has been announced yet. But the dry spell might be coming to an end, as it’s being reported that Allison Williams is on the shortlist for an unspecified role (but it’s probably Sue Storm, who’re we kidding?).

It’s at times like this, when someone makes Jaime and Brienne’s swordfight from Game of Thrones into a lightsaber fight not a week after the episode aired, that I really, really love fandom.

Every single one of those guys are phenomenal actors, and they really brought such life to their characters. But, when you’re the only woman in most of the movie, there’s a lot of pressure. If you’re not good, everyone is like, ‘Well, the girl sucked!’ It’s not like people can go, ‘Which one?’ The flipside of that is, if it succeeds, it’s the other side of that. This is, by far, the biggest movie I’ve ever done. I’m incredibly excited, but I’m also really scared. So, we’ll see.” – Battlestar Galactica actress Katee Sackoff speaking to Collider about her role in the upcoming Riddick film.

“I made a conscious effort to make her stronger than anyone I’ve ever played with very little, if no, vulnerability,” she said of her character Dahl. “She’s just really, really strong.  If she has a vulnerability, you’re never going to see it.”

Sackhoff is also still attached to that lady Expendables-type film which she told them is still happening but slow moving at this point in the game.

I…actually haven’t seen Kick-Ass so I can’t say I’ve been anticipating the sequel. That being said, this new international trailer for the film is basically all Chloë Grace Moretz’s Hit Girl looking awesome and doing some impressive stuff. I’m also imaginging her as Carrie in a few of these scenes. Kick-Ass 2 hits theaters August 16th.

I actually didn’t know these were a thing until today but apparently there’s TED Talks by teenagers. Anyway, I’m glad the first one I watched blew me away. Editor-in-chief and founder of RookieMag.com is 15-year-old Tavi Gevinson (also read her work at thestylerookie.com). Listen to her talk about fictional female characters and what they mean for real women, figuring out who she is, helping others do the same, and just being an all-around intelligent and thoughtful woman with smart things to say.

There’s an argument to be made that all vibrators count as “do it yourself projects,” but this vibrator (which Google Translate insists is called the Hyper Dash rotor) really is a do it yourself project.
