Let’s Take the Ghostbusters Tour of New York City! Emotions Optional! [Video]

Patrick Willems and Matt Torpey of Bleeding Cool are huge Ghostbusters fans, and as part of their relocation to New York City, they took the time to whip together a short film of themselves visiting the various parts of the city where the movie took place. And then they re-enacted the scenes that took place at said locations. As a Ghostbusters fan myself — a seriously gigantic one — I can relate to their reactions when they reached Ghostbusters headquarters (around 3:30). I’m so glad I could share that with them, through the computer machine.

Ellen DeGeneres Smacks Down Homophobic Organization In the Friendliest, Nicest Possible Way [Video]

We’re willing to bet that when Ellen DeGeneres found out that a conservative group of pearl-clutching biddies known as One Million Moms (which is probably not made up of one million people, let alone moms) was asking J.C. Penney to fire the comedian as their new spokesperson because she’s a lesbian (zounds!), she was less than chipper. However, if there is something that DeGeneres is better at than most people, it’s taking the high road. Not only did she steer clear of insulting the group (a group that protests, among lesbians, ice cream), but she found the silver lining and put the spotlight on the positive results of this minor debacle. Like the numerous comments supporting her, and J.C. Penney standing by their new spokesperson, mentioning that DeGeneres is “one of the most fun and vibrant people in entertainment today, with great warmth and a down-to-earth attitude.”

That’s probably more than you could say for the One Million Moms. Also worth mentioning: J.C. Penney is trying to become cool — and it might be working.

What Batman Would Look Like Fighting In Stilettos

Sometimes my mind goes on tangents, I can’t help it. More often than not, my mind goes on tangents about Batman. Thanks to a conversation on Twitter last week (that began by discussing the spiked heel choice for Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises) I issued a challenge to my artist friends: Batman fighting in stilettos. Because well, if she were trained to fight in them, and Batman notoriously prepared for any scenario, that means he should be able to fight in them too. Here now, for your viewing pleasure, are a few select illustrations I received.

This Was That Time Someone Wanted to Turn George Washington Into a Zombie After He Died

After George Washington passed away following a bout with a nasty cold, the guy who designed the Capitol Building — who was also a practicing physician — had the brilliant idea to hold off on the burial, inject the corpse of the first President of the United States with lamb’s blood, and bring him back to life. This is the story of William Thornton and his crazy plot to become a real-life American version of Dr. Frankenstein. Of course we had to cover this.

OMG You Guys, Diablo Cody’s Sweet Valley High Movie Is Going to Be a Musical!

Some of you might read that kind of headline and groan. And mutter. And say things like “Jeez, with the musicals already!” But then you’d be tragically close-minded. Hear me out. Diablo Cody has been working on a movie adaptation of Francine Pascal‘s Sweet Valley High books — featuring the perfect, blonde, identical twins, Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield — and has just informed us that it will be a musical. My teenage ’90s heart can barely contain itself. Even if I was more of a Babysitters Club girl. (By the way, Diablo Cody, when are you writing a Babysitters Club fem-slash graphic novel for the sheer heck of it?)

Apple and Google Are Working on Wearable Computers That Communicate With Smartphones

If you’ve ever pined for the days when you could speak into your wristwatch and ask it what time it is and it will tell you in a humanoid voice, it might be time to get excited. Apple is apparently developing wearable devices that will incorporate all the benefits and features of its fabulous new voice assistant, Siri. Google also has their crack team working on wearable devices that communicate with Android phones. So far, the only specific details entail a possible wrist device, but what does the future hold for computerized garments? Among the possible products of the future: glasses and contact lenses. Yup. Computers on your eyeballs.

Every Zombie Kill From Season 1 of The Walking Dead [Video]

The second season of AMC‘s The Walking Dead is upon us (this Sunday, 9:00 PM), but let’s take a walk down memory lane. And let’s make sure we have weapons of some sort, because all those zombies who are walking with us definitely need to be killed. Jesse Pynigar has compiled every zombie kill from the first season of the show, accompanied by a Miser cover of The Cranberries‘ “Zombie.”

Maybe don’t watch this while eating.

After a Collective Whine Heard ‘Cross the States, Ghostbusters Will Now Be Released in the U.S.

We’re guessing two things happened that convinced Sony to re-release Ghostbusters in the United States: 1. They were already planning to re-releasing it in the United Kingdom, as if they’d accidentally chosen the wrong option in an online drop-down menu, so we Yanks across the pond started crying about it, or 2. the monumental success of The Lion King‘s 3D release gave them a few ideas. And now that it’s crossed the minds of the Powers That Be, much like Ray thought of the form of the Destroyer and came up with the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, Ghostbusters will now materialize in US theaters.
