People Try to Figure Out Who J. August Richards Is Playing In Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Think It Might Be Luke Cage

Since the first trailer for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. came out (I don’t count the teaser-for-the-teaser that came out the day before, because that marketing trend is messed up) people have been trying to figure out who Angel alum J. August Richards is playing. The predominant theory? Luke Cage.

The Crow Remake Has Its Star, And It’s Neither Alexander Skarsgård Nor Tom Hiddleston

The story goes something like this: Once upon a time, Relativity Media decided to remake The Crow. They really wanted Luke Evans to play the lead, but between playing Dracula and Bard the Bowman he’s a really busy dude. They (allegedly) considered some other actors, among them Alexander Skarsgård, James McAvoy, and Tom Hiddleston.

But they then decided, no, we’ll just wait for Evans’ schedule to clear up. And they all lived happily ever after if the movie’s good.

Iron Man 3‘s Ben Kingsley Hasn’t Read Any of the Comics, Doesn’t Care What You Think

Because he’s Ben Kingsley, darnit, and it doesn’t matter how the Mandarin is in the comics, he’s doing things his way.

Good call, Ben. Because I don’t think the comic version of the Mandarin would work on the big screen all that well. For reasons that rhyme with… what rhymes with “racism”?

These Snailvengers Will Save the World One Inch at a Time

Loki and Fury are there too, because if you can make crocheted snail versions of Loki and Fury it’s a crime not to, frankly. And as if the Snailvengers aren’t cool enough on their own, Laura Partridge‘s Etsy shop also has crocheted hat-scarf combos (or scoodies) based on the Avengers and their favorite Asgardian nemesis. And the Loki scoodie has horns. Check ‘em out behind the jump.

Benedict Cumberbatch to Depress Audience Members In Alan Turing Biopic?

Fellow history nerds, rejoice. A biopic of World War II codebreaker extraordinaire/tragic life story subject Alan Turing has been in the works for a year or two. A script for the movie, called The Imitation Game, was put on the Black List (a list of scripts that industry folks are talking about but that haven’t been picked up yet) back in 2011, and last December the film got a director in the form of Morten Tyldum. And now Deadline is reporting that it’s close to having a star, too: Benedict Cumberbatch.

If Downton Abbey Were A Super Nintendo Game [VIDEO]

There were lots of films and television shows turned into video games for the Super Nintendo system back in the 90s so Bill Kiley pondered, what if Downton Abbey were one of them? Well, you’d have to do some pretty ridiculous things like collect the Dowager Countess’ gems. Wait, that sounds awesome. Now I want this to be a real playable thing. If you like the digitized version of the Downton theme song, you can buy it on Kiley’s website.

Brit Marling’s New Film Features Ellen Page As A Member Of An Anonymous-Like Group [TRAILER]

We’ve reviewed two of Brit Marling’s films on The Mary Sue. Another Earth left me with deep thoughts, while The Sound of My Voice left me wanting more. Marling’s new outing has her rejoining her Voice director Zal Batmanglij for The East. She plays an “operative for an elite private intelligence firm whose top objective is to ruthlessly protect the interests of their A-list corporate clientele” while an anarchist group works to reveal the corporations shady practices. Alexander Skarsgård and Ellen Page also star as members of the seemingly fictional take on Anonymous.

Sandra Bullock Is Iron Man

When last we saw a Hollywood actress photoshopped as an Avenger it was Community’s Alison Brie as Captain America. Josh from Fan Art Exhibit decided Sandra Bullock was the closest he could find (in age and personality) to complement Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man. For some reason, I’m picturing Alan Tudyk as Pepper now.

The BBC Is Telling the Story of the War of the Roses From the Women’s Perspective, and It Looks Amazing

The recently released promo pics from the upcoming BBC drama The White Queen, which tells the story of the War of the Roses from the perspective of the females involved, have really, really made me want to watch the show. Granted, it was announced a few months ago and I’m only hearing about it now, so my excitement comes less from a sense of “Hey, these are cool promo stills” than “OMG, a British history epic from a female perspective! Give it!”
