Would You Wear This Uhura T-Shirt?

Yeah, yeah you would. Well, if you want to wear it, you should probably head over to We Love Fine and rate some shirts in their Star Trek design contest. The ultimate word on which of the rated finalists lies with the two judges, but don’t despair. A good Uhura shirt still has a chance, since the judges are none other than John de Lancie and Nichelle Nichols, Q and Uhura themselves.

Star Trek Actor Michael Dorn Gives Details On A Possible Worf Spin-Off

I don’t know about you but Worf was one of the best characters to come out of Star Trek: The Next Generation. I was glad he continued on to Deep Space Nine but since the TNG films wrapped, there’s some serious Woft withdrawal on my part. That’s why I’m so excited actor Michael Dorn is trying to figure out if he can get the green light for his own spin-off! Read on for some details.

Who Carried The Olympic Torch Better – Patrick Stewart Or Matt Smith? You Decide. [VIDEO]

I can imagine Sir Patrick Stewart giving Matt Smith one of his cheeky Captain Picard grins right now. The Doctor Who star made news a few months ago when he ran in the London Olympic torch relay. Turns out, the X-Men actor also carried the torch through parts of Croydon, South London just yesterday. “Nevermind Jean-Luc Picard. I have attended world premieres of big movies that have not had the excitement and sense of pleasure that people are exhibiting today,” said the 72-year-old Stewart. He also made it a point to tell the press he remembers the London Olympics after World War II. Your move, Time Lord.

Can’t Talk Right Now, There Are Cats in Space [Video]

If you prefer Star Trek over Star Wars, or vice versa … it doesn’t matter. There are cats on a spaceship (okay, a spaceship that vaguely resembles the Enterprise) and they are fighting space mice. How To Make Captain America Cupcakes

We’re not sure we have the patience for contributor Elizabeth Giorgi’s recipe for Cap cupcakes, but we would certainly have the patience to eat them.

1. Bake a cupcake. Any kind, then put white frosting on them. Make sure it’s pretty even, because it will help later.

2. Get some fondant circle cutters. I used these. Put the largest one on around the edge. Now, use your clean fingers to gently tap on some edible glittering sugar dust. I used this brand. (You can buy it at Michael’s Crafts.)

To Shrink the Gender Gap In Its Engineering Department, Etsy Teams Up With Hacker School

While the vast majority of Etsy visitors are women (according to a 2010 company survey), its vice president of engineering, Marc Hedlund has acknowledged that the company’s own tech department is not as diverse as it should be. In fact, in a department of about 100, there are only 11 female engineers, none of whom are in management positions. But Hedlund isn’t going to let this slide, and in order to remedy the gender disparity, a new scholarship and sponsorship program through Hacker School has been announced to encourage more women to pursue engineering postions, not only at Etsy, but across the country. And that’s what we like to call “initiative”!

Help Author Diane Duane Recover Her Savings by Buying Her E-Books at a Discount

Diane Duane, one of our favorite YA science fiction authors, is having a pretty horrible start to her new year; her entire bank account was sucked dry by some nasty, nasty jerkweed, and she’s been left with nothing. While her bank is actively helping her and her husband to regain their funds, there are still bills that need to be paid before the mess is completely sorted out and their balance is restored. So, what can we do to help? Buy her e-books. She’s even offering a 20 percent discount on her titles. Think of this way: every Diane Duane e-book bought is like “spitting in the face” of the person who screwed her over. Details on where to direct that spit are right after the jump.
