In his own words, here’s why maintaining the Cumbervillain’s Cumbersecrecy is so important:

Star Trek Into Darkness To Release a Week Early in the United Kingdom

In which Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto lock Benedict Cumberbatch in a cage to prevent him from making sure that the UK gets Star Trek Into Darkness before America does.

“Mwaha,” he responds, “You forgot Alice Eve and Simon Pegg are also British. STID premiered in the UK half an hour ago.”

Thank you, thank you, I’ll be here all week.

2013 San Diego Comic-Con Sells Out in 96 Minutes, But Not Without Some Technical Glitches Along the Way

It was never a question that badges for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con would sell out. The unknown factor was exactly how long it would take. Not long, as it happens: Tickets went on sale this morning at 9AM PST, and by 10:36 they were all gone.

Benedict Cumberbatch Is Just as Frustrated by the Mystery Surrounding His Star Trek Character As You Are

“It’s achingly irritating… Believe me, I’d rather talk about the role and the fantastic story and all the things J.J. [Abrams] has come up with. And then everyone would be as excited about the film as I am. But then of course I think I would be on a phone call coming from J.J.’s office.”Benedict Cumberbatch speaks out on how he wishes he were able to talk about who he’s playing in Star Trek Into Darkness already.

He went on to praise Abrams’ withholding of information, however, saying “We live in the modern world, which is a place of oversaturation and now people, especially Trekkies, want to know everything before they witness it themselves… I think of it as a kid having a box of chocolates and not knowing what’s good for them. They eat three and they keep eating as they get sick… and the candy is gone.”

That’s… a little condescending-sounding, Mr. Cumberbatch.

A Wrath of Khan Character Is In Star Trek Into Darkness (Not Khan)

I know people have some strong feelings as to whether or not Khan Noonien Singh should even enter the realm of J.J. A character from Star Trek’s past, from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan to be exact, has a role in Star Trek Into The Darkness. Who is it? Hit the jump to find out and maybe there will even be talk of Klingons!

New Star Trek Into Darkness Photo Names Benedict Cumberbatch’s Character

Those watching Star Trek Into Darkness closely for any information have focused intently on the identity of Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch‘s character. It’s clear he is the villain, but precisely who he is has wavered back and forth, from the infamous Khan of the first second Star Trek movie (okay, that only hurt a little to type), to Gary Mitchell, a telepath and antagonist of TOS episode “Where No Man Has Gone Before.” Gary Mitchell seemed like a safe bet after Karl Urban accidentally called Cumberbatch’s character ‘Gary,’ though producer and writer Roberto Orci later denied that Cumberbatch is Mitchell, while confirming that he is a previously established Star Trek character.

After certain scenes in the Japanese teaser trailer released last week, however, evidence seemed to point to Khan. Now, Paramount has released a press photo labeling Cumberbatch and his character name, and it’s not one that anybody recognizes.
