Cartoon Characters Aren’t So Funny When They’re Skeletons

But they sure are interesting to look at. Artist Michael Paulus shows us classic cartoon characters as we’ve never seen them before – as skeletons. In his series “Character Study,” Paulus looked at characters that have been around for decades with a scientific eye. He writes, “I decided to take a select few of these popular characters and render their skeletal systems as I imagine they might resemble if one truly had eye sockets half the size of its head, or fingerless-hands, or feet comprising 60% of its body mass.” The results are a little macabre but definitely cool. You can purchase prints and originals in his Etsy shop.

CBS Is, Ahem, Cracking Down on Inappropriate Attire at the Grammys

“CBS Program Practices advises that all talent appearing on camera please adhere to Network policy concerning wardrobe.

Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered. Thong type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack. Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic. Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could  possibly expose female breast nipples. Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible “puffy” bare skin exposure.“  — From an e-mail CBS sent out detailing proper attire at the Grammys.

CBS, tell me this: If “female breasts” are unacceptable, how about side or undermoob? Translucent shirts revealing male nipplage? Inquiring minds want to know.

Artist Trains Mushrooms to Someday Consume Her Body In Environmentally Safe Funeral

New life goal: be the sort of person who could plausibly have “death mushroom trainer” on my resume, and doesn’t live in the world of Pokémon. Forgive us for never bringing Jae Rhim Lee to your attention before. Her Infinity Mushroom project and its accompanying TED Talk have been around for a while, but this is the first we’ve seen them. Lee is pictured above, wearing her Mushroom Death Suit.

And now you have to read the rest of the aritcle, don’t you?

If Arnold Schwarzenegger Voiced Darth Vader

How many redubs of Darth Vader will I tolerate? How about all of them. And don’t forget, video makers! There are plenty of other iconic characters whose mouths aren’t visible when they talk! V, Bane, and every Power Ranger! Go nuts!

Monty Python’s “Universe Song” Rewritten to be About Biology

Sure, it’s all just a promo for Brian Cox’s Wonders of Life on the BBC, but hey, it’s a good rewrite, and Eric Idle is actually doing the singing. All things considered, it’s quite enjoyable. Yup. Quite nice, indeed.

Can we have your liver, then?
