Some people like Valentine’s Day. Some people hate it. Some people don’t care much either way. Regardless of your feelings on the holiday itself, we hope you can enjoy this selection of geeky Valentines. Flowers are overrated. (Not chocolate, though.)

It’s T-minus 10 days until Valentine’s Day, so there’s still plenty of time left to buy a card for the significant other(s)/friends/miscellaneous nerds in your life. Unfortunately, drug store V-day cards tends to feature schmaltzy poems and hearts and flowers and stuff like that. Ugh. You want geek this holiday up, we know. Joe and Emily met at a tattoo parlor a few years ago and their love story has culminated in a Star Wars engagement ring. Nothing could make us happier. Joe teamed with Paul Bieker of Paul Michael Design to come up with the perfect ring for his lady. Just under a year and a half since announcing the option to proclaim a same-sex relationship on Facebook, the social network has now introduced new icons for those same-sex couples who get married! The new icons — two brides and two grooms (obviously) — will be featured on the Facebook Timeline when a user changes their status to “Married” and specifies that they are now in a same-sex marriage. Just in time for Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes to announce his own marriage to Sean Eldridge! Congratulations, gentlemen! Next: waiting to see an icon pop up on Anderson Cooper‘s Facebook page. We’ll go ahead and hold our collective breaths for that.

But you guys, this is so great! It’s like making up for Pride Month being only 30 days long! Better than a bonus second!

Hey, single ladies — remember The Rules? Those books published in the ’90s that told women to leave men in charge of making all the moves and to stay “mysterious” for them? Because men are the “aggressors,” and they prefer to be the ones in charge? Many thought it was a regressive way to find love at the time, and now Ellen Fein and Sherrie Schneider are back with more great advice for snagging a soul mate in this new-fangled digital age. It will totally work, you guys, they promise. Don’t let Fein’s bitter, bitter divorce convince you otherwise.

But guess what? I have some even better terrible advice, and it will make you so infuriated and frustrated over trying to attract a date that you will just be downright psyched to be single. Get ready for the new rules for dating: Be Impossible.

We’ve featured rings inspired by Portal before, but these are probably appropriate for a more special occasion. Created by Etsy seller 17thbit, they are 8 mm wide and come in sterling silver. It’s completely understandable there are people out there who don’t like Valentine’s Day.
