David Tennant Might Win An Emmy For Playing A Robot

The 40th annual daytime Emmy Awards nominations were were recently announced and while “daytime Emmy” may bring to mind soap operas and talk shows, the awards also celebrate animation and children’s shows. And as it turns out, Doctor Who’s David Tennant is nominated this year for his role on Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Terrifying Parasite Wasp Named After Beatrix Kiddo and That’s Awesome From All Angles

If you’re unfamiliar with Kill Bill, it’s a two part Quentin Tarantino series featuring Uma Thurman as the Bride, neé Beatrix Kiddo, an assassin newly awakened from a coma who sets out to kill all the people who put her in it and took her unborn child, including the child’s father, Bill. In some of the most famous fight scenes in the series, she wears a yellow tracksuit with black stripes,while Flight of the Bumblebee plays in the background.

If you’re unfamiliar with parasite wasps, they’re the xenomorphs of the wasp world, in the genus Braconidae. Every insect in Braconidae has one thing in common: they lay their eggs in the sometimes still living bodies of their prey, so that when the babies hatch they’re already inside their first meal. New species Cystomastacoides kiddo has indeed been named after Beatrix, and yes, it is indeed bright yellow.

The Mean Girls Musical is Still Happening; Internet Breathes a Collective Sigh of Relief

Remember how Tina Fey said that she was trying to get a Mean Girls musical made with her husband Jeff Richmond, who wrote the songs for 30 Rock? And then we didn’t hear anything else about it, because musicals aren’t exactly a quick thing to put together, and Tina Fey’s all busy with movies and the like?

Well, Mean Girls fans, gird your loins, because an intrepid reporter at Vulture cornered Richmond at the premiere for Fey’s new movie and grilled him about the musical. And yes, he and Fey are hard at work on it. He swears.

Well, never mind: Showrunner Edward Kitsis must’ve realized how bad an idea recasting Stan would be, because he’s said they’re not doing it.

Dark Horse Comics’ Beasts of Burden Adaptation Gets An Oscar Nominated Director

We were excited to hear Evan Dorkin and Jill Thompson’s Beasts of Burden comic was picked up for a film adaptation but since we hadn’t heard any news since 2011 we weren’t sure it was still happening. Well, good news! They’ve attached an Academy Award-nominated director.
