Can Jem and the Holograms Make A Truly Outrageous Comeback With New Dolls From Hasbro?

Jem, the larger, cooler Barbie. At least to me she was. That’s why I’m so excited for this news. Hasbro has made a deal with Integrity Toys for a modern day line of Jem and the Hologram dolls. “Inspired by the TRULY OUTRAGEOUS characters created by Hasbro over two decades ago and cherished by fans and collectors alike ever since, this nostalgic retro doll line is designed to pay homage to both the animated series and its original companion doll line, which was originally marketed from 1985 to 1987,” writes Integrity. Each doll will set you back $125 and they’ll start shipping next month. Take a look at Jerrica Benton, her alter-ego Jem, Synergy, and good ol’ purple-haired Rio (more to come down the road).

Dine On Adorable Star Wars Animals With These Decorative Plates From Third Half Studios

I took my first trip to Dragon*Con in Atlanta, Georgia this past weekend  (more on that later this week) and saw so much geeky coolness my eyes are still adjusting back in the real world. One of the best things I saw in artists alley was a series of plates by Third Half Studios. I didn’t have enough room in my suitcase to bring them home with me but they looked amazing in person so I knew I had to share them with you. They aren’t microwave safe but they are food-safe and dishwasher-safe and would even be worthy of hanging on your wall. Take a look at their cute Star Wars creatures, adorable zombie animals, and a crypto zoo menagerie!

These Superhero Popsicle Prints Make Us Long for a Refreshing Super-Powered Treat

For a lot of us, this summer has been long and really, annoyingly hot.  In fact, it’s been the hottest U.S. summer in 100 years. Dutch artist Vincent Vermeil is either there to taunt us or free us from this heat with his superhero popsicle prints. Bonus points (and our eternal gratefullness) if you figure out how to make them IRL.

This Couple Got to Play Around in the Batmobile on their Wedding Day

When you’re getting married in a cathedral right in front of the Pittsburgh location of The Dark Knight Rises filming, what are you supposed to do? You crawl right on into that Batmobile, that’s what. Take off your shoes if necessary, and try not to rip your dress–but even if you do, it’s worth it, right? Michelle and Rich found themselves in this exact situation when they were getting married last year, and they handled it like pros: They persuaded the crew of TDKR to let them take their wedding pictures in Batman’s Tumbler. You can listen to the groom’s version of the story here.

Jealousy, we have it.

Clean Out Those Display Cases: Avengers Black Widow Statue Announced

Remember that eerily realistic Loki statue from Hot Toys? Well, we were wondering when they’d announce a Black Widow statue — it turns out it is hitting the market soon and I couldn’t be more pleased with the representation of Avengers actress Scarlett Johansson’s “kicking ass and taking names” face. Hit the jump for more detailed images (and super cool poses!).

Hollywood Is Making Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book & A New The Jungle Book Film

I doubt there was any sort of discussion about these two projects being announced at the same time but I appreciate the coincidence nonetheless. Henry Selick, of Coraline and The Nightmare Before Christmas fame, is set to direct Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book for Disney. The novel was loosely based on Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book which also just happens to be getting some new attention in Hollywood right now. Harry Potter screenwriter Steven Kloves will be writing and directing The Jungle Book for Warner Bros. Please let these movies come out at the same time so I can make a double feature out of them.

These Amazing Bookends Will Make You Want To Buy More Books

I don’t have a lot of room for bookends in my apartment but if I did, I’d pick a set of these from Knob Creek Metal Arts. Because in the image above, that’s not two people jogging, that’s a lady running for her life from a flesh-eating zombie. Yes…these are my kind of products.
