Doctor Who’s New Companion Has A Name! Plus The First Shots Of Her On Set!

When the new companion for BBC’s Doctor Who was announced, not much information was given. We knew she’d be played by actress Jenna-Louise Coleman and that she talks faster than Matt Smith’s Doctor. Showrunner Steven Moffat said, “Who [Coleman is] playing, how the Doctor meets her, and even where he finds her, are all part of one of the biggest mysteries the Time Lord ever encounters. Even by the Doctor’s standards, this isn’t your usual boy meets girl.” Well, we finally know who she is and even have the first pictures of her from the set. DC Comics Announces Second Wave Of Relaunch Books With Good And Bad News

DC Comics overhauled their entire line of comic books when they relaunched with the New 52 in September of 2011. There were 52 titles, some old, some new, and a few familiar faces were missing from the lineup. Well today, DC has announced a “second wave” of titles to join the ranks but they’ve also cancelled several titles as well. This morning, editorial director of Marvel.com, Ryan Penagos, live tweeted from Barnes & Noble’s NOOK event in New York City. Why was the Marvel employee in attendance? In addition to revealing their new Nook tablet, Barnes & Noble announced they would soon be carrying Marvel digital comics on the device in their first-ever electronic pairing with the bookseller.

Cartoonist/Journalist Susie Cagle Arrested At Occupy Oakland

Cartoonist and freelance journalist Susie Cagle set out to cover the Occupy Oakland protests three weeks ago with official press credentials in order to make an illustrated history of the event. While documenting some of the happenings last month, she was tear gassed and her story spread far and wide. Late Wednesday/early Thursday, Cagle was arrested with her press badge in full view.

Doctor Who Showrunner Steven Moffat Tweets Against Accusations of Misogyny

Current Doctor Who show runner and writer/creator of several other hit U.K. productions, Steven Moffat, has jumped on Twitter to defend himself toady. He did an interview in 2004 just before the classic sci-fi series was about to be rebooted and some of his comments have hit a nerve. They’ve cropped up here and there since then but this seems to be the first time Moffat has become of aware of what many are calling his misogynistic tendencies and chosen to respond and make clarifications on the social networking website.
