The art of Jorge Vargas takes us to the realm of video game-ception. BRRRRRRRM. No, I’m never going to stop using the Inception BRRRRRM. Why do you ask? I don’t care if it’s a bit old hat by now.

Valkyrie Needs Food Badly: New Gauntlet Video Game On The Way [TRAILER]

I’m pretty sure 1985′s Gauntlet introduced me to the concept of a Valkyrie so you can bet I’m excited for this revamp of the classic. Arrowhead Game Studios are developing the game which will be a top-down co-op action RPG for PCs (with Steam integration). And your favorite characters will be back. According to the release, “Each character has its own unique strengths and weaknesses. For example, the Warrior does the most damage in melee combat, the Wizard has the most powerful magic, the Valkyrie has the most armor and the Elf moves the fastest.”

“Valkyrie has the most armor” – music to my ears.

Agents of SHIELD Creators Talk Sif and May

After a month’s hiatus, Marvel’s Agent’s of SHIELD will return to screens tonight with “T.A.H.I.T.I.” and soon with “Yes Men,” a highly anticipated episode (by me, at least) featuring Jamie Alexander as Lady Sif of Asgard. What’s it like to borrow a cape character straight out of Marvel’s movie universe? On the occasion of the end of their long break, show creators Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon answered some questions for Comic Book Resources and touched on the female characters close to our hearts.

Untouched Thor 2 Scene Features Tom Hiddleton Dressed as Captain America

If you’re confused, you might need a reminder (or explanation) that in this scene in Thor: The Dark World, Loki transforms himself into a likeness of Steve Rogers in the Captain America suit to needle Thor. Tom Hiddleston explains that this scene was filmed and then shown to Chris Evans, so that he could capture Loki as Cap in his own performance, “It’s him doing an impression of me doing an impression of him, and it’s brilliant.” On the contrary, Mr. Hiddleston, it’s Chris Evans doing an impression of your impression of Loki’s impression of Captain America. We need to go deeper.

But that still doesn’t explain why this scene required Tom Hiddleston to wear his own Captain America suit.

Ody-C is an upcoming series from Matt Fraction that retells the story of The Odyssey, in space, with many (if not all) of the genders reversed. Artist Christian Ward posted these character designs from the series on his Tumblr. Here we have our crafty Odysseus, mistress of tricks, with her laser gun and space sword and I hope I have caught your attention by now.

Unused Concept Art Shows Thor 2 Almost Introduced Valkyrie

Concept Artist Josh Nizzi shared a number of unused art he produced for Thor: The Dark World, and among them are three progress shots of Valkyrie, or at the very least, a Valkyrie. While Vaklyrie is a superhero with a long history in the Marvel universe, and many incarnations within mortal women, she first appeared as about as literal a straw feminist as you can get: an pawn of the Enchantress created to divide the Avengers along gender lines by encouraging the Wasp, Medusa, Black Widow, and Scarlet Witch to embrace women’s lib. In retrospect, I assumed the issue would be kind of painful to read, but it turns out there’s no better response than laughter to the existence of a comic in which someone smashes through a window and yells “UP AGAINST THE WALL, MALE CHAUVINIST PIG” at the Hulk. That’s a line that’s really lost on any color of Hulk except perhaps this one.

It’s a pity Valkyrie (or a Valkyrie, or the Valkyries, I’m not picky) didn’t get her debut in The Dark World, but really the movie had enough on its plate already. Maybe next time. You can find two more pieces of concept art, including one with her winged horse Aragorn, at Nizzi’s page.
