Melissa McCarthy Responds to Critic Who Personally Insulted Her While Reviewing Identity Thief

Comedian Melissa McCarthy recently responded to the vitriolic comments made by film critic Rex Reed towards her in a New York Observer review of Identity Thief back in February.  Where Reed was unnecesarily cruel, and stepped far beyond his role as a movie critic in his descriptions and condemnations of McCarthy, McCarthy’s response is classy and level headed.

The Divergent Movie Might Getting All Classy and British With Kate Winslet

For the unaware, Veronica Roth‘s Divergent trilogy is an über-popular teen series about a dystopian world in which society is separated into factions based on dominant characteristics (the main character, Tris, belongs to the Dauntless faction, whose members are characterized by bravery). As with all über-popular teen series (serieses? serieseses?) these days, there’s a movie adaptation in the works. We already know who’s playing Tris (that would be Shailene Woodley), but Variety has news about a possible new addition to the cast: Kate Winslet.

The Best Part Of Downton Abbey: Dowager Countess’ Brutal Honesty [VIDEO]

Dame Maggie Smith is superb in any role but we take particular joy in watching her as Violet Crawley, the Dowager Countess of Grantham in Downton Abbey. She delivers her lines with such class and whit you can’t be bothered with the fact that she’s usually talking smack about someone. Regardless, here are a few of her best one-liners (there are so many more) from Seasons 1 and 2.

“That would be the funniest news ever. Katniss Everdeen actually kills someone with a bow and arrow!”

Thinking she was being robbed, Lawrence grabbed her weapon, which she’d been training with earlier, and went inside to defend her property.

‘And I look, and my patio doors were open, and there were guys working right there, and I was like, ‘Heyyy, how you doin’?”

Her friends joked after the embarrassing moment that they’d like to see her use the weapon for real someday.

‘They were like, ‘We’ve got to stage someone to break into your house and you can kill them!’ That would be the funniest news ever. Katniss Everdeen actually kills someone with a bow and arrow!’”Jennifer Lawrence, to Vanity Fair, as previewed by the Hollywood Reporter.

There’s something in me that feels bad for loving everything about Jennifer Lawrence, knowing that she was reluctant to take the role of Katniss because she knew it would catapult her into the level of stardom where people well, know everything about you. But I can’t help it. And were I to ever meet her, I would probably react just like she says later in the article about not having the courage to talk to Meryl Streep:

Vertigo Comics Executive Karen Berger Is Leaving DC Entertainment

Vertigo Comics has been the more serious, adult oriented arm of DC Comics since 1993 and at the very start was Karen Berger. Getting Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman published was just one of this editor’s countless accomplishments at the company, you can also put Hellblazer and V for Vendetta in that group, so it’s with a great deal of disappointment we must report she’s leaving the DC Entertainment altogether.

Disney-Run LucasFilm Will Churn Out Two Or Three Films A Year Says Kathleen Kennedy

Upon finding out Disney was purchasing LucasFilm, we knew we’d at least be getting three new Star Wars movies. President of LucasFilm, Kathleen Kennedy recently went on record with a pretty lofty goal – two to three films a year.

Ouya: The $99 Android-Based Gaming Console That’s Woman-Led And Totally Awesome

I apologize, dear readers — we’ve been utterly remiss in reporting about Ouya, the Kickstarter sensation that aims to pack an open, Android-based game platform and development kit into a teensy console, effectively bringing the best parts about hackable indie gaming to the television. In only eight hours, Ouya raised $1 million, surpassing its original goal of crowdfunding $950,000 in 30 days. Oh, and the icing of top of this so-far successful gaming project cake? The entire project is led by gaming industry veteran Julie Uhrman. Hit the jump to find out more about this woman-led, revolutionary console!
