Do I need a reason to post a James Silvani Lilo & Stitch/Lord of the Rings mashup? I certainly don’t think so.

Writes SadDaysCrochet, who made this bundle of crocheted amazingness for her brother:
“The helm I based directly on the helm that Gimli wears in the Lord of the Rings movies, the beard was my own design with massive creative input from my brother. Helm has a lovely fleece interior and beard attaches and detaches with large snaps. The rest is mithril.”

Look, New Zealand, you’re really far away from us and it’s really expensive to get to you. Odds are, most of us won’t ever be able to experience your beauty, never mind Hobbiton. So it’s with a great amount of glee we report a theme park may be in the works as a joint venture between Universal, Warner Bros., and the Tolkien estate. Get ready for Mr. Frodo’s Wild Ride!

I’m sorry to scare you like this. A test shot has been making the rounds today thanks to a post at ComicBookMovie.com. It depicts actor Elijah Wood in what might have been a scene in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings. The scene was either never filmed or wound up on the cutting room floor but would have shown us the eventual fate of Frodo had things not gone the way of the good guys which, as it turns out, would have meant Frodo becoming Gollum’s twin.

What do you do if you’re a lifelong J.R.R. Tolkien fan who has a ton of memorabilia and is—this part is essential—rich? You have a custom-designed Hobbit house built for you collection, of course!
Stephen Colbert, this isn’t you, is it?

Having an action figure of yourself seems pretty cool but if I had my choice, I’d rather have a LEGO minifig that looked like me. With the upcoming release of The Hobbit films, LEGO not only put out a LEGO Lord of the Rings videogame, they created sets for the second trilogy. And here are the stars of the film, Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, and…all the other dwarves meeting their LEGO counterparts while still in costume. It’s pretty adorable.

Andy Serkis looks bit different from what I remember. I’m guessing that’s a more colorful Gollum there, since the 3D process sort of leaches that color… Either way, can’t wait to see the finished product in a few weeks.

The third The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey TV spot packs an awful lot of action into just 30 seconds, plus two reminders to buy your tickets (which go on sale this Wednesday) in advance. Also going on sale this Wednesday are tickets for the theatrical marathon of the extended edition of The Lord of the Rings, taking place on December 8th and 9th. It’s sure to sell out, so buy your tickets early. You should also probably start building up your tolerance for sitting in an uncomfortable chair for four or so hours at a time. A numb butt is the enemy of a positive movie marathon experience. Trust me.

This is the most wonderfully random statue I have ever seen. It’s not weird at all that the airport in Wellington, New Zealand would be home to a Lord of the Rings statue in the first place… but a ginormous Gollum coming out of the wall and reaching across the room for a similarly oversized fish? That’s unexpected. And awesome. And also kind of creepy.
The 13m statue was created by Weta as a promotion for The Hobbit (naturally), but I for one will be very disappointed if it gets taken down after the first movie is out. Or all three movies. Or ever. I want people to fly into the Wellington airport 500 years from now and wonder what we were all on in the 21st century.
Hint the jump for more creepy wonderment.
