Starwarsbucks? Yes, this is exactly the kind of nightmare you had when you heard about Disney buying LucasFilm. It’s ok though, Boba Fett is just using this as an undercover opportunity.

It is now officially December, which means it’s about time to get your Christmas cards in order. If you celebrate Christmas, that is. And if you send Christmas cards. I don’t do the latter, but these geeky-friendly cards by Melbourne illustrator Alicia (AliciaMB on RedBubble) almost make me want to. Even if I find the idea of a Christmas-ified Hunger Games just the tiiiiniest bit disturbing (“Yay, a new bow that I can use to defend myself from people who want to kill me! It’s a Christmas miracle!”). But whatever. They’re adorable, they’re geeky, they’re Christmas cards. That’s all I need to know.
Check out Alicia’s The Hunger Games, The Avengers, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Doctor Who designs under the jump.

It’s called the iPet Companion and it allows you to control kitty toys remotely so you can keep otherwise bored cats entertained. Via the FAQ: “A signal is relayed from the servers at iPet Companion to the control boxes situated within the home (located anywhere in the world) – that allows for users to see and move the toys, with minimal time lag” says Scott Harris, founder and owner Reach-In, the Idaho-based company that developed the software. It seems to be getting use from shelters across the country but is also available for home use. It will set you back $349.95 plus postage for the cat version, $395 plus postage for dogs, and a $4.95 monthly service fee for your own interactive webpage. You must supply the actual toys. And no, you don’t get your money back if your cat thinks it’s stupid, no matter how great you think it is.

Facebook, Facebook, Facebook. You and your privacy problems. The company got into legal trouble in April of last year for using users’ pictures without permission in their paid “Sponsored Stories” advertisements. Though they tried to settle out of court (of course they did), the Facebook’s proposed agreement was rejected on account of the fact that none of the $20 million they offered to pay would be going to the actual Facebook users affected.

This new DC Nation short is a riff on the old Just’a Lotta Animals from back in the day at DC and will premiere on Cartoon Network September 29. It’s certainly got a very John Kricfalusi/Ren & Stimpy vibe, no? I can’t find any information on who made it but if it was Kricfalusi I think they’d be making a big deal out of it. Anyway, I look forward to seeing the whole thing in a few weeks.

A cancer diagnosis at any time is unfair and bad news, especially when you’re a young adult in the prime of your life, ready to take on anything. Kaylin Andres was one such person, and after surviving her own battle with cancer, she’s fictionalized the experience in the form of a comic book, Terminally Illin’. Along with collaborator Jon Solo, she’s running a Kickstarter campaign to create a digital version of the comic and spread the word. After the jump, more details and pictures from the project.
