Watch Game of Thrones‘ Olenna Tyrell and Downton Abbey‘s Violet Crawley Engage in a Battle of Wits [VIDEO]

When Vulture pits Game of Thrones‘ and Downton Abbey‘s resident sassmaster grandmothers against one another, who emerges victorious?

Ah, I can’t choose. Let’s just say that the combined wit of Olenna Tyrell (Dame Diana Rigg) and Violet Crawley (Dame Maggie Smith), if harnessed as some sort of weapon, could handily dispatch all the lessers in Westeros and win the Iron Throne for the two of them to share. But they’d replace it with something way more classy.

Warehouse 13 Gives You Another Reason to Watch It, Casts Anthony Stewart Head As Its New Villain

To recap, here’s a (partial) list of the sci-fi royalty that has popped up on Warehouse 13 at some point: Brent Spiner, Kate Mulgrew, Mark Sheppard, Lindsay Wagner, Rene Auberjonois, Jeri Ryan, Sean Maher, and Jewel Staite. And now Anthony Head. But he’s not the only actor with geeky credits you’ll be seeing when season 4.5 kicks off April 29th.

Clarissa, Now Grown Up, to Explain It All in a New Book

Time to break out your loudest clothing, because Clarissa Darling is back. In a book, not a TV show. But still. Way cool.

Community Promises All Puppet Episode

Community‘s fourth season ratings have not been the greatest. In fact, the Halloween episode grabbed the lowest ratings the show has ever had. And while I wouldn’t preface this statement with “in response,” this is not a situation in which I’d fault the folks who run Community these days for bringing out the big guns:

All. Puppet. Episode.

Alfonso Cuarón Is Doing a Show About a Lady With Superpowers. Mulan from Once Upon a Time Will Be In It. Are You Excited Yet?

I’ve been looking forward to Believe since I first heard about the Alfonso Cuarón-written and directed show about a girl with superpowers because… it’s an Alfonso Cuarón-written and directed show about girl with superpowers. I’m not sure what else I need to say here.

Now I know a bit more about what I’m looking forward to, as three of the show’s female characters, including its lead, have been cast. Oh hi there, Jamie Chung!

We Wants This Replica Orcrist From The Hobbit, Precious, Yessssss

Unfortunately it’s $9,990, belt and scabbard sold separately. The scabbard is inscribed with runes reading “Born from the Maws of Dragons I am Always Hungry and Thirsty.”

Darnit WETA, why must you aways make awesome things that I cannot buy? Even the Magical Scarf of Gandalf the Grey is beyond my price range, never mind Thorin’s sword. I’m just gonna go grump in the corner for a bit.

Drink in Style With Flasks from Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who, and More

Not that you have to drink alcohol, necessarily. I can see myself sipping some Black Cherry Kool-Aid from the White Tree of Gondor flask as I read fanfic on the subway. Like a boss.

Though regarding Game of Thrones I’d recommend alcohol if you’re reading book three, A Storm of Swords, for the first time. Just a heads up. Check out the selection after the jump.

At Long Last: Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld Debuts on DC Nation

Unexpectedly thrown into hiatus for two and a half months, DC Nation returned this weekend with a new batch of shorts, including Brianne Drouhard’s Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld. I think my favorite moment is when she poses for a second at the end of her trasformation sequence, and clearly has no idea why.

And yes, for those of you who protested last time, Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld is a DC comic, and it predates She-Ra.

Previously in Amethyst

Would You Like to Live in a World Where Hugh Laurie is the Pirate Blackbeard? Then I Have Good News

Hugh Laurie, an actor who’s known primarily in the states for playing the misanthropic Dr. House to a tee but who is probably equally as famous in the nerd world for his association with Stephen Fry and Rowan Atkinson’s implausibly historical comedy series Blackadder, is in between projects at the moment, so far as we plebes are aware. House finished up its last season in May, and we we’re looking forward to whatever Laurie did next, comedic or dramatic, although we did hope it was something that would prove to more Americans who’ve only seen him on House that, yes, his natural accent is a British one.

We didn’t dare hope that he’d be a pirate.
