Astrid Plays Quidditch In This New How to Train Your Dragon 2 Clip [VIDEO]

Quidditch with dragons and sheep, and a different court setup, and probably slightly different rules and more of a lax attitude toward fire, but at least some of the people responsible for this scene are probably Harry Potter fans, just sayin’. And! And! How nice it is to see Astrid, who’s been mostly absent from the previous trailers, present and actually doing things?

Disney Characters Sorted Into Hogwarts Houses Might Lead To All Sorts of Arguments

Because that’s what always happens when the issue of sorting fictional characters into Hogwarts houses comes up, right? I, for one, am just pleased that Eira1893 sorted Tiana into Hufflepuff, where she belongs. Sorting characters who should clearly be in Hufflepuff into other houses is a pet peeve of mine. ‘Puff pride!

Sounds Like J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Is Getting A Movie Trilogy

We knew that the Harry Potter spinoff book was getting a movie, but three? Three of them? Break out the butterbeer!

There’s no official announcement yet, but judging by a recent article in the New York Times, this sounds like it’s at least on the table. This weekend, the Times published a profile of Warner Bros. C.E.O. Kevin Tsujihara, who originally coaxed J.K. Rowling into writing the Fantastic Beasts screenplay. Tucked in among details about his career history was an interesting tidbit about the movie — or, as it turns out, movies.

Potterheads! More Of the My Immortal Web Series Is Incoming, And Here’s the Trailer [VIDEO]

My Immortal: The worst fanfic to ever exist. Needless to say, we were a little excited when the adventures of Ebony Dark’ness Dementia Raven Way—Hogwarts student, Goth (or “goff”), enemy of preps everywhere—was made into a webseries that kept all the melodrama, OOC characterization, and spelling errors (“Vlodemort”) that made the original… er… great. Season two of My (Immortal) is on its way, and you can watch the trailer above. If you missed out on the first season, A) you’re a horrible prep, and B) you can catch it behind the jump.

Money: The Gathering: Fox Acquires Film Rights to Magic: The Gathering, Planning Franchise

Daring the curse of all movies about fantasy-based games to strike them with lightning, 20th Century Fox has announced that they are founding a movie franchise “on the scale of Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings” on Magic: The Gathering, that game you wanted to learn because every middle school boy who would sometimes talk to you was playing it but didn’t because people already made fun of you for talking to them about Animorphs all the time.

Okay, maybe that was just me.

Mark Your Calendars, Nerds, ‘Cause Sailor Moon Comes Back This July

…Assuming, that is, that it’s not delayed again. The new Sailor Moon series was originally going to premiere last summer, and then this winter, but now the word is that July will see the long-awaited Sailor Renaissance. The show will air simultaneously worldwide on streaming platform Niconico, where it’ll be subtitled in ten languages. And, just as a reminder, we’re looking at a reboot, not a remake or  a sequel. (Such distinctions are important in this day and age.) Explains producer Atsutoshi Umezawa: “This second anime adaptation of Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon is not remaking that previous anime, but adapting [Naoko Takeuchi's] original manga and starting from scratch again. It is quite a project. The entire staff has been working hard to show everyone an entirely new, so please look forward to it.” Oh, we will.
