Feast of Fiction Tackles Portal‘s Black Forest Cake, GLaDOS Advises Fruit or Starvation As An Alternative [Video]

Feast of Fiction has made a ton of geekdom’s greatest dishes, and this week, they are tackling the secret Black Forest Cake recipe that shows up in the first Portal game. And it is a real, truthful cake, made with the help of portal guns. As you can imagine, GLaDOS was not entirely satisfied, but GLaDOS has no tastebuds, so whatever, GLaDOS.

Since we support cake, you can find the recipe (which comes from Planet Fortress) on Feast of Fiction’s YouTube page.

The Unofficial Portal Film the World Deserves

Alex Zemke is a professional animator and visual effects artist with credits in the Uncharted series, The Smurfs, and a Ben 10 videogame. But no, he isn’t working on an animated Portal short in a professional capacity. He’s doing it for the love of the game. Recently, Zemke released some text renders from the short, and the attention and excitement they drove has gotten him connected with other 3D artists and animators, allowing him to expand the story of the short. We can see why:

Feel Good of the Day: First Grader Wins National Handwriting Award, Despite Being Born Without Hands

According to her mom, Annie Clark seemed overwhelmed when contest organizers from textbook publishers Zaner-Bloser announced that she was the winner of a national penmanship contest, but as the first grader received her trophy, things appeared to sink in, and a big smile made an appearance. Though Annie was born without hands, her adoptive parents say she’s determined to do pretty much anything the other kids can do, whether it’s bike riding, swimming, or even simply writing, and she’s succeeded on all fronts.

Disney Princesses… If They Were in Final Fantasy X-2

Final Fantasy X-2 introduced a new wrinkle into the famous RPG series: instead of being handed a selection of characters with set classes to choose a three person fighting team with, players were handed exactly three characters (Rikku, Yuna, and Paine) and could choose which class roles they wanted those characters to play at any moment, simply by changing their outfits. It was also the first FF game to feature an all female main cast.

And what with the fanart trend of giving reinterpreting Disney princesses, and the existing presence of the official Final Fantasy/Disney crossover games Kingdom Hearts, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that xsKiRtZx’s drawings of Disney princesses and other lead female characters as Final Fantasy X-2 classes are a pretty cool combination.

You Know These Voices: Voice Acting Documentary Shows the Real People Behind Cartoons and Games

I love that this production doesn’t just include voice actresses like Tara Strong, Rachael MacFarlane, and Nika Futterman, but also Andrea Romano, veteran casting director on pretty much your entire childhood with seven Emmys under her belt.

Now, before you go off on the voice acting luminaries who don’t show up here, you should know that this is just a trailer: I Know That Voice is still in production, and still interviewing, so we’re going to go off and demand the inclusion of Phil Lamarr and Jennifer Hale.

Uh, please.

Watch This Hermit Crab Try On A Bottle

I’ve owned a few hermit crabs in my life and I admit to being extremely curious about what their shell-changing activities are like. I’ve sat and stared at their habitat for hours waiting to see what it looks like but sadly, the hermit crabs were too shy, they always changed sometime in the middle of the night. Now I’m sure there’s a few videos on youtube depicting the act but I’ll admit, I was a bit too scared too seek them out. Although I was interested enough to own them as pets, I feared what the other half of them looked like. I imagined something akin to the Alien facehuggers and then ran away screaming in terror. Well, it’s certainly not that bad but I still squirmed while watching this particular video, showing a hermit crab being a bit picky about his next home. Take a look.
