Iron Man 3 Lego Set Shows Pepper [Spoilering] a [Spoiler] [Spoilers]

Because the last time we talked about this openly, despite the fact that people on the movie have laid some serious hints, we’ll keep this under wraps. The LEGO set “Iron Man 3 Malibu Mansion Attack” features minifigs for Tony Stark, Iron Man Armor, Pepper Potts, the Mandarin, and a sinister accomplice. But it’s a detail of the box art that we’re really interested in here.

The Only Place You’ll See Wonder Woman Kill Nazis Any Time Soon is This Fan Film Right Here

Look, we’re in a state of necessarily extended enthusiasm about the CW’s Wonder Woman pilot, but we’re not fools. We’re not going to look a gift fan-video-of-Wonder-Woman-killing-the-heck-out-of-some-Nazis in the mouth. Even if I wish she’d gotten slightly longer shorts.

(via io9, and also everywhere else.)

I Don’t Know Why DC Didn’t Publicize the Heck Out of This Week’s Batwoman Because [Spoilers]

Batwoman #17 came out yesterday, and in some of its last pages had a… thing… that happened. It’s a spoiler, sure, but it’s not a plot spoiler, it’s just a surprise. And before you get worried, it was a cool thing, an exciting thing, a bit of a cliffhanger thing, and I’m just puzzled as to why DC didn’t make a bigger deal out of it beforehand. It’s the kind of thing they could probably use right about now.

Okay, I’ll stop beating around the bush and put a jump cut here so that I can actually say what happened. Batwoman #17 spoilers from here on out.

This is One Time Where It’s Okay to Tell Wonder Woman to Get Back in the Kitchen

Because she’s a cookie jar.

I mean I guess you could keep her somewhere else in the house if you wanted to. I keep my cookies in the kitchen because it make it harder to absent mindedly eat them all in one sitting.

The BBC Is Replacing Arthurian Drama Merlin with Greek Mythology Drama Atlantis

Fans of Merlin may still be reeling after the show’s abrupt cancellation (I don’t want to talk about it), but we now know the show that will be taking its place, in the BBC’s lineup if not in our hearts: Atlantis, a Greek mythology-themed fantasy drama.

That… that might manage to take Merlin‘s place in my heart too, actually. I’ll have to see how good it is, but… Greek mythology-themed fantasy, guys. Greek mythology-themed fantasy.

Cool Lady of the Day: Postwoman of Steel Retires in Glory Without Taking a Single Sick Day

Deborah Ford retires today, after a career that’s older than Sesame Street, the Moon Landing, and The Brady Bunch, and that, in and of itself, would be impressive enough. But the sixty-four year old postal worker has also completed her forty-four year career without taking a single sick day.

Amazon, Latest Attempt at Wonder Woman Show, Gets Pushed Back

Alex Kingston Joins Arrow, Could be the Original Black Canary?

Arrow isn’t a great show by any stretch of the imagination, but I respect it for what it’s trying to do and have some hopes that eventually it will succeed. And let’s be real: I also enjoy the near constant references to obscure facets of the DC universe and it’s liberal borrowing from the Batman canon for villains and supporting characters. It’s those bits that keep the nerd in me casually watching it in the background of my other activities.

With the addition of Alex Kingston to the cast, however, the show’s going to pique the interest of an entirely different fandom.

Batwoman, ParaNorman, True Blood get GLAAD Nominations!

Yesterday the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation published the nominations for their annual awards honoring mainstream works of television, cinema, comics, and journalism that they consider to have done an outstanding job of depicting the LGBTQ community and the lives of those within it. Some of the nominees are, unsurprisingly, very close to our hearts.
