Check Out Which DC Comics’ Characters You’ll See In Scribblenauts (Besides Stephanie Brown)

I just found out Scribblenauts Unleashed: A DC Comics Adventure was a thing the other day when, at E3, a small clip was show featuring Batgirl Stephanie Brown. As if that wasn’t reason enough to buy the game, Warner Bros. has released a bunch of promotional shots showing who else from the DC Universe we’ll be seeing in the game. Characters would be enough, but it’s what the characters are doing here that really makes it special. For instance, Alfred doing laundry and a birthday party for Green Lantern Mogo. A few other things to note: the game has Harley Quinn wearing her New 52 costume, while letting Zatanna stay in her old one. And while I guess Scribblenauts isn’t strictly a kids game, I was slightly surprised to see the Joker described as, ”A psychopath and mass murderer who finds amusement in the death and torture of others.” Anyway, take a look to see if your favorite character will be playable (you’d be surprised how many are in here) and see some more in the trailer.

Geoff Johns Slipped Something Groundbreaking Into His Green Lantern Finale

Writer Geoff Johns recently ended his almost ten year journey with DC Comics’ Green Lantern. What began as a literal rebirth in 2003 was wrapped up in a neat bow last week but opened the mythos to a few interesting possibilities, including one relavent to our specific interests here at The Mary Sue.

I Have No Idea How This Wedding Ring Works; It’s Still Cool

Ben Kokes went through ten prototypes for this ring before he came up with one worth presenting to his fiance Mary, “because doing things in the most complicated way possible is just what he does to show the love.” Those are real white and blue gemstones illuminated with LEDs, but they only light up when the ring is near an “induced alternating magnetic field.”

Now I’m going to be honest with you: I don’t know what that means. But if Kokes’ process, documented on his website, is any indication, it’s very impressive.

Kevin Feige Gives Some Very Kind Advice to Warner Bros. From His Throne of Money

If there’s anything that’s getting more skeptical side eye than the idea, four years ago, that Marvel Entertainment could pull off a three movie, two year leadup to bringing us not just the world’s first superhero team movie from the Big Two’s character stables, but the first successful one… it’s Warner Bros.’ current “me too!” effort to do make lightning strike twice.

Now, Kevin Feige, working as he does for Marvel, might not have the most insider view of the Justice League movie’s progress, but it’s nice of him to be giving advice from his position of having helmed a successful superhero franchise that’s made seven total movies and counting in about half a decade.

Green Lantern Himself Doesn’t Care About the Justice League Movie

Though, honestly, Ryan Reynolds‘ negative comments about the oft-delayed superhero film sound less like a case of “I have zero interest in the Justice League movie” than of “I still wince when I think about Green Lantern.” Can you blame him?

DC’s New 52 Wants to Be Your Valentine. Will You Say Yes?

Readers who picked up DC’s (deep breath) Young Romance: A New 52 Valentine’s Day Special #1 this week were treated to an assortment of punch out-able mini-Valentine’s Day cards. I’d like to punch some of these cards out. By which I mean… look, I love puns, but some of these are bad. And not bad in a good way. Bad in a lazy way. But I guess bad in a lazy way is good in a Valentine’s Day way because Valentine’s card puns tend not to be good, even in a bad way…

Sorry ’bout that. I think I curdled my brain trying to figure out what the play on words is with “You’ve got Grayson beauty.” Someone throw me a bone here?

Edo Period Wonder Woman, Superman, And Batman Are Too Busy To Fight Godzilla

Chet Phillips decided to depict DC Comics’ Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman as if they lived a long time ago in Japan. So why are the Trinity taking it easy when there’s obviously a monster to fight? The banner in the right corner reads: “Vacation Day.” You can purchase the print in his Etsy shop.
