Batman: Arkham Origins Teaser Trailer Features Extremely Realistic Fight

I swear these are just actors in costume actually fighting. I mean, damn! According to the videos description: “Batman: Arkham Origins features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline occurring several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. Taking place before the rise of Gotham City’s most dangerous villains and assassins, the game showcases a young, raw, unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight. As the story unfolds, witness identities being formed and key relationships being forged.” All of us Batman fans here at The Mary Sue are still slightly wary of this next installment considering it isn’t being made by Rocksteady but remain hopeful. What about you?

Bryan Fuller On a Possible Pushing Daisies Reunion in Hannibal, Doing a Pushing Daisies Zombie Movie

First things first, to those not watching NBC’s Hannibal: Watch Hannibal. The acting’s great, the characters are wonderful, and it’s insanely fun seeing the writers play with the fact that the audience knows Hannibal Lecter’s a killer cannibal but the characters don’t. (Said at a dinner meeting: “Next time bring your wife. I’d love to have you both for dinner.” Oh-ho-ho!)

Another reason to catch up on Hannibal, at least if you’re a Pushing Daisies fan: Some combination of Lee Pace, Kristin Chenoweth, and Anna Friel might join its cast in season two. If it gets a season two. C’mon, people. Let’s make this the Bryan Fuller show that lasts.

Violet & Daisy, a Trailer You Should Watch

I know almost nothing about Violet & Daisy except what’s in this trailer, and that, according to Wikipedia, it’s an action, a comedy, and a drama; both surreal and violent; about teenage hit women. That’s enough to make me interested.

Pixar’s Newest Lady-Led Film Gets a Release Date

Disney’s been making all kinds of announcements lately about the future of their various brands, and while everybody is understandably flipping their wookiee wigs over Star Wars news, there’s another somewhat smaller project that we’ve also got our eyes on. That’s Pete Docter‘s Inside Out, a long gestating Pixar project about the inside of the human mind, which was tentatively revealed a few months ago to focus specifically on the mind of a little girl.

Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges See And Fight Dead People In The R.I.P.D. Trailer

I know I’m not the only one who sees R.I.P.D. and reads B.P.R.D. Both are comic books from Dark Horse and both are based around the supernatural. But only one is going to be a movie out this summer. Based on the comic from Peter Lenkov and Lucas Marangon, R.I.P.D. stars Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, and Mary-Louise Parker. Susana describes it as, “What if Jeff Bridges did a funny voice and then things exploded: The Movie.” See what you think…

MGM Announces New Tomb Raider Film in Development

Rumors of a Tomb Raider movie inspired more by the current reboot of the series in video games rather than the two previous installments of the movie franchise have been swirling for a few months now. The putative film had even acquired a production company and producer, GK Films, whose pedigree is anything but marked by big budget blockbuster shlock, what with Traffic, Argo, The Departed, Gangs of New York, and The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys. But the project crossed an important line yesterday by partnering with a larger distribution studio. With the involvement of MGM, this is now a film that will probably get made.

Rob Thomas Gives Actual Details On The Plot Of The Veronica Mars Movie

We were excited to hear of a Veronica Mars movie Kickstarter, thrilled when it was fully funded (and then some!), and then left to wait in horrible anticipation until it actually came to fruition. Luckily, some fine folks thought to ask creator Rob Thomas what he has in store for dear ol’ Veronica in said film and he obligingly gave a few details.

Tomb Raider: A Chance to Make a Difference

I’ve had an up-and-down relationship with Lara over the years. I played the first game, in fact [my] dad did and spoilt the bit with the T-Rex but it was still awesome. Then I felt she’d become reduced to a pair of boobs, a pair of pistols and a hair plait.

She became bigger than the games and was over-sexualised. I’m fairly used to that in games but it gave the impression that ‘ladies, this isn’t for you’ and yet she was very popular with female gamers.

The chance to get my hands on her, so to speak, gave me the chance to make a difference.Rhianna Pratchett, head writer on Tomb Raider.

The Tomb Raider franchise’s imminent reboot hasn’t had the smoothest of PR roads, what with letting its executive producer say some really unfortunate things about rape, victimhood, and how men connect with female characters, days before they were ready to announce and confirm that Tomb Raider (2013) was that rarity in the video games industry: a game about a woman, written by a woman. Pratchett herself has talked publicly about how problematic those statements were and how they’re not representative of her approach to Tomb Raider‘s story. Gamers can finally get their hands on the long awaited reboot tomorrow, and we should have a review for you at the end of this week.
