Lynda Carter On Gal Gadot and the Return of Wonder Woman

Glad as I am that Wonder Woman is getting some live-action screen time again, I do not envy Gal Gadot her job. Her role in the upcoming film Batman vs Superman will be the first time someone other than Lynda Carter has wielded the Lasso of Truth. Those are some big boots to fill.

As far as Carter’s concerned, though, she’s got Gadot’s back. In a Huffington Post interview, she spoke positively about her successor, but was cautious toward the as-of-yet-unknown screenplay.

Ghostbusters III Might Actually Happen, And If This Director Rumor Is True We Might Want It To

Every mention of Ghostbusters III is met with a tiny little eyeroll (and, more recently, wracking sobs) at The Mary Sue office, ’cause for years it’s felt like Dan Aykroyd has done everything short of sacrificing a goat to Our Dark Lord Satan to make the movie happen, but since Satan prefers a nice gift card from Bed Bath & Beyond all his efforts have been fruitless. But following the death of Harold Ramis (again, WRACKING SOBS), there’ve been some developments that make it look like this movie might actually claw its way out of development hell.

Karen Gillan Nabs Starring Sitcom Role About Social Media Woes

Karen Gillan won’t be flitting back over the pond once her time as Guardians of the Galaxy‘s blue-skinned, bald lady space pirate Nebula is done. She’s might have bagged the role of Eliza Dooley in a brand new sitcom from ABC.

Amy Poehler-Created, Natasha Lyonne-Starring Series Gets Rita Moreno

Remember when we told you that Amy Poehler had gotten a network interested in two things that are often hard sells to executives: a majority elderly cast and female protagonists, and that the show would involve Orange is the New Black‘s Natasha Lyonne? Well, now Rita Moreno is attached, and it’s going to be hard to top that.

Watch This Trailer for Alfonso Cuarón’s Believe And Tell Us What You Think [VIDEO]

You wouldn’t know it from this trailer, which proudly trumpets only J.J. Abrams‘s executive producer credit, but NBC’s upcoming Believe was actually co-created by Abrams and Alfonso Cuarón. Around here we’re big fans of both his work and girls with superpowers, so needless to say we’ve been looking forward to this for a while. But the teaser… maybe it’s just that it’s early and I’m pre-breakfast, but it doesn’t grab me like I thought it would. The show looks really generic. White dude with a troubled past rescuing people. Whoopee. But hey, trailers have been misleading before. And Jamie Chung being there pleases my Mulan-loving heart.

What do you think?

Watch Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd Take a White-Hot Poker to Romantic Comedies

After watching this clip, I wasn’t convinced They Came Together is an actual movie and not just an elaborate prank. But no: It has an IMDB page. It’s premiering at Sundance this month. It’s real. Says David Wain in a statement: “After having already made world-changing cinematic statements on adolescence (Wet Hot American Summer), religion (The Ten), service (Role Models), and community (Wanderlust), I teamed up with Michael Showalter to take on a topic that (to our knowledge) has yet been seen in the movies: ROMANCE — particularly heterosexual romance between two white people. Our next idea was to mix this romance story with humor – so you could almost call this a Romantic-Comedy, so to speak.” It could either be brilliant or the worst thing ever. If the latter, just treat this clip as a particularly funny short film. An equally amusing poster is behind the cut.

I Can’t Decide Whether To Get Excited About the Wachowskis’ New Netflix Show Or Not

It’s been almost a year since we first heard about Sense8, a sci-fi show being developed exclusively for Netflix by Andy and Lana Wachowski alongside Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski. At the time all we knew was that it would be “a gripping global tale of minds linked and souls hunted,” which is predictably vague considering it’s the Wachowskis.

But now we finally have a synopsis. And it sounds interesting! And also like there’s the possibility of it being racist as hell.

Did Captain America’s Hayley Atwell Just Get Her Own Marvel TV Show?

We told you back in October that Hayley Atwell would love to reprise her role as Peggy Carter on the small screen, and today, the internet is ablaze with rumors that this awesomeness might actually be happening. Following in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s footsteps, Agent Carter could be the next show on Marvel’s docket. I’m shaking just thinking of all the retro cosplay opportunities that this show could bring us.

Jane Austen MMO Ever, Jane Promises Social Strategy And Probable Scandal

“What are you writing about this week?” my friend asked me over breakfast this morning.

I sipped my tea and smiled. “A Jane Austen MMO.”

My friend, who has a master’s degree in comparative lit and years of hardcore raiding under her belt, raised her eyebrows. Skeptically.

“No, seriously,” I said. “It’s a thing. It cleared its Kickstarter goal by almost $10,000 a few days ago. It’s got a playable prototype — well, okay, more of a proof of concept. Lots of bugs, not a lot to do. But I tried it out, and, honestly…I think it could be pretty cool.”
