Four Brand New Brave Character Posters

I’m looking at hair, but all I can hear is a thousand server farms crying out and then being suddenly silenced. We’re sitting just under three months from the release of Pixar’s Brave, but June 22nd can’t come fast enough. To tide us over, Pixar’s released four character posters, featuring the company’s first female protagonist Merida,

Shooting for Her Own Hand: Two and a Half Minutes of Pixar’s Brave

Well, here’s my shock of the morning: exactly four months before its release to theaters, Disney Australia’s YouTube channel delivers us not another Brave trailer, but a full two minutes and twenty eight seconds of a scene from Brave, featuring what must be a pretty important archery contest. Enjoy. I certainly did.

A Few More Bits of Brave Art, from Disney World Itself

There haven’t been any Brave promos for a while now, but Disney World is sharing some of the concept art with visitors, in the regular spot they use to showcase upcoming Pixar projects in its Animation exhibit. Reminds us heavily that before Brave was adopted as a more media friendly title, the movie went by the working name of The Bow

Bear Chases Child, Woman Chases Bear

A 25-year old Missouri woman named Erin Bolster was leading a group of riders on horseback one day when they came across a bear. A grizzly bear. Chasing a deer that sped right past the group. All the horses, including Bolster’s — a horse named Tonk — ran away from the bear, but one horse, Scout, carrying an eight-year-old boy, ran into the woods instead. The bear started chasing Scout and the boy — so Bolster and Tonk chased the bear.

Here is A Grizzly Bear Eating R2-D2

Susana: I have a video of a grizzly bear eating R2-D2.

Jamie: That sounds awesome, though I have a ridiculously cute cat who can’t figure out how chairs work.

Ladies and gentlemen: The Internet.

Pixar Dishes on Brave at D23, or, Merida is a Badass

This weekend, as you may have noticed us mentioning, was Disney’s D23 Expo, which is why you’ve been seeing so much Disney, Pixar, and Marvel movie news floating around: they all showed up to strut their stuff for the Disney fan community. Now, while we’re interested in a lot of that, even the news that Pixar is going to be making a dinosaur movie couldn’t get us more excited than Brave does, and so here’s a generous helping of the D23 news about Brave, Pixar’s first movie with a female protagonist and a woman writer behind the story.

Some of it is a little spoilery, but only about what seems to be the first arc of the story, not the ending or plot developments.

All Polar Bears Can Trace Lineage Back to Ireland, Insert Whiskey-to-Stay-Warm Joke Here

Geneticists studying the DNA of bears have come to a very festive conclusion about polar bears: they can all trace their lineage back to brown bears from Ireland. There are so many jokes to be made, none of them are polite. I’m not Irish, but Susana is part-Irish, and she’s given me permission. And some of my best friends are Irish. So let’s just get this out there: We’re going to make ethnic jokes about the Irish.

20 Reasons to Be Excited About Brave (As If You Weren’t Already)

Two weeks ago, the first official teaser for Pixar’s Brave premiered with the release of Cars 2, giving Cars 2 a reason to exist. At the time I was too busy performing in a show, reviewing shows, holding down a job and keeping my cat happy to be properly excited. This week, though, I have had enough of a break to appreciate how excited I am.

And I am excited. Stupidly excited. Obnoxiously excited. I am more excited for this movie than I am for all the Christmasses to come. I am more excited for this movie than I am for my brother’s upcoming wedding (sorry, Josh). I am more excited for this movie than I am for Captain America, the drunken laugh-fest that will be Breaking Dawn, and any and all movies featuring Alan Rickman.

I am in fact so excited that it is actually making me angry. Why do I have to wait another year for this movie? I want it now. I will Veruca Salt all over this place until I get my very own Brave! (kicks things)

And This Is What They Look Like: Brave Character Art Released

More and more official art from the newest Pixar movie Brave is coming out (in case you missed the teaser poster, that is here), and now, we’re finally getting a good close look at four of the main characters. (And a somewhat blurry look at a fifth.) After the jump, we’ll look at how this compares with the concept art we saw in March.
