Monday Cute: Newborn Seal Pup Gets First Haircut, First Swim, First Barks

This as yet unnamed baby harbor seal was born to new mom Shelby at the Aquarium of the Pacific just a few weeks ago. This video (as you might notice) was taken the day of the birth, since Harbor Seals can swim immediately after being born.

Tell me about it, I still haven’t had time to reading the Buffy/Alien crossover. But I did watch two of the Twilight movies (with Rifftrax, obviously).

The Force is strong with this youngling. What starts off as just fun and games turns into a deadly serious battle when this little lady discovers Darth Maul isn’t a moving bank at all, but a true Sith Lord! Lucky for us she’s quick to act and even quicker with a lightsaber. Get him, baby! GET HIM!

Set Your Nostrils To Cry: Wil Wheaton Gives A Touching Speech At Star Trek Cast Reunion

These are the days I most wish we had transporter technology. If we did, I wouldn’t have missed the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation reuniting at the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo for the first time in twenty years. Yes, as a Trekker, it would have been amazing to witness that first-hand but thanks to the internet, we can still check out the happenings. For instance, the moment Battlestar Galactica actor Aaron Douglas got up to ask Wil Wheaton, who played young Wesley Crusher on the series, what it felt like being on stage with them again after having left when he was eighteen. Seriously, grab a tissue now.

Monday Cute: Kids Narrate Nature Documentary Planet Earth

In England, the production home of the documentary series that pretty much made the case for HD television to me, was narrated by that talking-about animals veteran David Attenborough. For American audiences, however, the series was rebroadcast on the Discovery Channel with sci-fi veteran Sigourney Weaver doing the storytelling.

Monday Cute: Tiny, Ticklish, Endangered Clouded Leopard Cub

The Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium is caring for a couple of newborn Clouded leopard cubs, who are now just over a month old. This is the kind of thing they do. According to Wikipedia, there are only about 10k of them left in the wild, with no single connected population larger than one thousand.

Despite the fact that they do things like this.

Excuse Me While I Tear Up Over This Stop-Motion Lego Proposal

Filmmaker Walt Thompson from Fire Pit Pictures,went all out when it came time to propose to his special lady. All out as in he spent several days piecing together a stop-motion animated film featuring LEGO. The whole video actually tells the story of Walter, and his fiance Nealey’s, courtship. Plus, it features cameos from Star Wars characters! I can’t even handle this, I gotta go get a tissue. Enjoy!
