Watch Steven Universe, the First Cartoon Network Series Created by a Woman

While everybody else this morning is watching a new trailer for Man of Steel (we’ll post it later, I promise), you’re going to be different. A rebel. You’re going to watch the pilot for Steven Universe, created by Rebecca Sugar, the lady behind lots and lots Adventure Time‘s songs. It’s a show about three magical girl heroes, the Crystal Gems, and their over-eager protege Steven. And it’s pretty freakin’ great.

The Story of the Venture Bros. So Far Is Really Complicated, Guys

This year, I got us all a present for my birthday. It’s the return of The Venture Bros. You’re welcome. But even though there are only four seasons of the show, and it’s only a half hour long, any fan will be able to tell you that after a nearly three year hiatus, some things are a little fuzzy. Like… there was this orb that was important at one point, but then it turned out to be broken? And is Phantom Limb still at large or… And whatever happened to Baron Ünderbheit, is he still in the Revenge Society? How is Ünderland doing under the democratic rule of Girl Hitler? Have I forgotten about these things because they were brought up in minor ways, or because they were never brought up, and if so, is it because they’re going to be important later or because the writers have actually found one of the few plot points that they don’t feel like following up on?

Welcome back to Venture Bros.

Bryan Singer Tweets Our First Look At X-Men: Days Of Future Past With Two Very Important Props

Looks like Charles Xavier hasn’t made many upgrades to his wheelchair since the 1970s. Both of them look fairly uncomfortable if you ask me but this is technically our first look at Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. Now if we can just get him to tweet a picture of James McAvoy and Sir Patrick Stewart in them, I’ll be even happier.

Mads Mikkelsen Makes for One Creepy Serial Killer in the First Trailer for NBC’s Hannibal [VIDEO]

Here’s the first teaser for Bryan Fuller‘s Hannibal, starring Mads Mikkelsen as the eponymous serial killer/cannibal. It looks quite a bit different from Fuller’s previous TV shows… not a drop of whimsy to be found. That said, it still looks good. Plus, Mikkelsen is just generally excellent in everything. (No one mention Clash of the Titans or Paul W.S. Anderson‘s steampunk The Three Musketeers. We don’t talk about those.)

Meryl Streep Might Be Playing the Witch in Into The Woods, Just Start Molding her Oscar Now

We last heard that Disney’s Into the Woods movie was rolling into production over a year ago, with the director of 2002′s Chicago aboard to bring to life a version of the stage musical penned by its original writer. And that was exciting enough. But now, in an interview about his new stage musical, that writer, James Lapine, says that Meryl Streep is already on board.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Has Started Filming, And The First Pictures From the Set Are… Well, They Exist

EW reports that S.H.I.E.L.D. has gotten underway, and with that bit of news we have our first trio of photos from the set. They’re about like that Ender’s Game set photo that was just part of a wall. Or, for that matter, the Sherlock set photo from earlier today that was just an empty set. Nothing too exciting, is what I’m saying. Check ‘em out behind the jump.

But! The show has also launched its official Facebook and Twitter pages, which will—fingers crossed—be home to new, more interesting photos before too long.

Feel the Fury of Alan Moore in Before Before Watchmen [VIDEO]

Alan Moore has made no secret his distaste for how DC has handled the rights to Watchmen. (Though “distaste” is a little light—maybe “apoplectic rage” would be better?). Mat Rees has therefore made Before Before Watchmen, a two-part series depicting Moore’s reaction to prequel spinoff series Before Watchmen.

You’ve brought this on yourself, DC. You should’ve known better than to make Alan Moore angry. You won’t like him when he’s angry.*

*Yeah, I’m mixing Marvel and DC, what of it?

Part two is behind the cut.
