If you want Emma in the current time period of X-Men, you have a few options:

1) Have her project a youthful appearance like in Old Man Logan. She’d be about the same age as Charles or Erik. That would potentially give her a more interesting, long-lived, wise, experienced, Grand Dame nefariousness. Can you imagine Hellen Mirren playing an older Emma Frost?! Ahhhhh!

2) She could stay in her diamond form but not be a telepath for fear of aging in an instant to her natural age, like in the alt. universe depiction from Young X-Men’s “End of Days” (and similar to her future alternate universe daughter Ruby Summers).

3) You could just say that she has an extended lifespan by alternating between her diamond form, which basically extends her youth and longevity until she shifts out of it and picks up aging normally from when she first shifted to the diamond form. Basically, it’s the “cheater” version of option 2. All she’d have to do is spend half the day of every day in diamond form and she’ll have reduced her aging by half that of its normal course. Rather than aging 30 years from the events of First Class, she’d only have aged 15. Or theoretically, she could spend even more time in diamond form to slow her aging, even to something like 7.5 years if she spends 3/4ths of her time in diamond form.

If the real Jean is discovered later, then she’s absolved in largely the way that Jean was absolved by the duplicate retcon when she came back in Fantastic Four.

As for Scott…this is far fetched, but you could have Jean sense Scott’s mental presence lingering at Alkali Lake and have Jean be so in tune with her molecular control that she’s able to reassemble Scott’s atomized body and bring his consciousness back. That would be somewhat similar to Jean sensing Emma’s lingering mind amidst the rubble of her diamond form and molecularly fusing her back together. Who knows?

I’m beginning to think there will never be a truly brilliant X-men film. :(

But I’m not sure if I want the rights to revert to Marvel, given what I hear about what they’ve been doing with X-Men lately.

‘Sides, the X comics are mostly social allegory with a dash of Wolverine. 3 was just a typical action movie for the most part.

Now how to change the continuity problems with First Class is another problem. HOW old is Emma?! Please stop making Mystique a lovesick outsider – she is Awsome!

I would miss the loss of X-Men and X2, but if it gets us a more cohesive timeline, I’m all for a soft reboot.

“Singer’s version of ‘fixing’ X3 would be making it drearier, have less impressive action, and sidelining or forgetting half the cast! Scott having an emotional breakdown and dying in the first twenty minutes was the MOST interesting thing done with him in three movies! I appreciate and respect that Singer didn’t just make a feature-length toy commercial a couple of times, but I *like* having an X-Men movie that’s NOT just two hours of sitting shiva around a social allegory, with a dash of Wolverine!”

Jean’s been resurrected enough, it won’t be too hard to bring her back.

Cure was temporary, so Rogue, Mystique and Magneto all get their powers back.

Bringing back Xavier in his own body is the only one I can’t figure out. The end of X3 showed that he had taken over the comatose body he was discussing in the ethics class he was teaching when he first felt Jean, so he’s still alive, he would have just no longer been portrayed in Patrick Stewart’s body.

Cut to a scene of a little kid staring intently into a snow globe, inside the globe is a model of Xavier’s school for gifted students. Then reveal that the kid is Proteus the mutant who can alter reality, but when he snaps out of it everything goes back to where it was at the end of X2. You’re welcome.
