Groovy Or Not Groovy? Bryan Singer Set To Direct X-Men: Apocalypse

At least try to look surprised? For me?

Today in unsurprising news: Deadline is reporting that Bryan Singer has just closed a deal with Fox and will be returning to the franchise for X-Men: Apocalypse.

Singer’s fourth film in the X-Men universe will be adapted by Days of Future Past writer Simon Kinberg from a story written by Singer, Kinberg, Michael Dougherty, and Dan Harris. Production will begin in early 2015, with the film slated for release on May 27th, 2016.

Deadline hypothesizes that Apocalypse—set ten years after Days of Future Pastwill see the X-Men universe expand, possibly welcoming Channing Tatum to the Marvel universe as Gambit (I know, I have a lot of feelings about that casting, too). Considering Days of Future Past earned $746 million worldwide to become the highest-grossing X-Men film yet, it’s not surprising that Fox wanted Singer back for his fourth venture into the franchise, despite allegations against the director that surfaced shortly before Days of Future Past‘s release and caused him to bow out of the film’s publicity tour. (One of Singer’s accusers, Michael Egan, has since dropped charges against him.)

Considering how well Singer and his creative team worked together on Days of Future Past, are you guys excited to see them return for Apocalypse?
